dinarprospect
Iraq Kurd leader accuses PM Maliki of 'dictatorship' (AFP) – 1 hour ago DUBAI — Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is monopolising power and preparing the ground for a return to dictatorship, Kurdish leader Massud Barzani charged in an interview published on Sunday. "Iraq is moving towards a catastrophe, a return to dictatorship," said Barzani in the interview published in pan-Arab newspaper, Al-Hayat, adding that it was "unacceptable" that Maliki was also Iraq's "defence minister, interior minister, intelligence chief and commander of the armed forces." Barzani, who was received at the White House on Wednesday, said on his return to Arbil he would call a meeting of Iraqi leaders to "save" Iraq which is facing a political crisis. Iraq's political woes deepened after the arrest warrant issued in December against Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi, a Sunni, accused of running a death squad. The meeting must come up with "radical solutions... specific timeframe to exit the crisis," Barzani added. If the meeting failed "we will take another decision," he warned, in reference to the possible secession of Kurdistan. "This is not blackmail or a threat. I'm serious. I will put a referendum to the Kurdish people. Whatever the price, we will never accept a return to dictatorship in Iraq," Barzani said, referring to Saddam Hussein whose iron-fist rule was staunchly criticised by Iraqi Kurds. Tensions are high between Iraqi Kurds and Maliki, a Shiite, mainly over the distribution of nation's oil wealth. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5i6UU7r2mtPf6s2eomlobK84hU8PA?docId=CNG.8317b2055a71a884523e7ff0a1403b01.

In other words its a PROMISE! Kurds don't need Baghdad, Baghdad needs the Kurds. He can play nice or the other options of the Kurds is no confidence, take notes and throw Maliki in jail (which can't happen cause he own the judicial) or they break off to a Kurdistan State. And we know Baghdad don't want that. It appears shiite only want the kurds for their oil. Otherwise they can't stand them. Sound familiar? Richardk
This article is baffling, so much has came out that the Kurds want to get things resolved and are forming a committee to get everything finished. Then this which will get Maliki's negative side coming forward. I see this article was in a Dubai news release and can't wonder if it's not a little exaggerated.
