This is a great question. I am no expert but my thinking is that any asset which is sold for a profit is subject to taxes either as capital gains and or income. But also I believe they can't tax you until you cash in and that is where professional advise is needed on the best way to legally avoid as much as you can.~~~Bluto

Why would they need a loan if there was any plan to RV. I don't see this as good news. Could be smoke and mirrors but who knows.

I think someone here posted this guy doing a video about the dinar and dong. It was about 6 months ago. I remember the name and his comments about the employment figures being so important for Vietnam. I don't remember anything about such a low rate though. If he is right we certainly have been had. But I just can't believe it ,after all the intel we have seen from from so many different sources. It is possible that it is disinformation or a smoke screen to get people to sell back there dinar now before the RV/RI ~~~~ Bluto

Thanx Chief I am hearing the same thing as well. Just got back in country yesterday. While passing thru the airport in Baghdad I tried to talk with some of the Iraqi civilians. The ones that I could understand and could understand me seemed excited that it was coming very soon. While I can not be sure of these sources it was still good to hear positive news. I have probly the same retirement goals as you do and have been looking at some large yachts in Malaysia and Thailand. Also there is a great yachtmaster coarse in Langkawi , Malaysia. I agree Doc and thought the same thing about Iraq. Why would any country sell bonds if a RV was coming. Don't see how Vietnam could back a RV with there present economy.

I'm thinking that much of it was on consignment to other banks and still under control of the CBI so all they had to do was call for it to be returned. They may also have bought it back now while it is cheaper before the revalueation. Either way it looks like a good sign for us.~~~~Bluto

Ron I look at it this way. They will be making money on both ends. First they sell dinars for USD's which goes into there foriegn reserves,, then they sell oil getting back there higher valued dinars. Seems like a win win situation for them. JMHO ~~~~~Bluto

It is my understanding that the troop level will still be at about 50,000 at the end of August and will remain at that level for a year or so. There will always be a American troops here in the future. But at a much reduced level. As far as going off base for financial services it is still too dangerous for that, at least for us contractors. We still run convoys with military escorts for protection. How many troops and bases remain in the future is OPSEC information and I couldn't say it even if I knew it. But it sure is a good sign to open banks on these bases. JMHO ~~~~~ Bluto

I have been working here in Iraq as a contractor for almost 5 years now. I heard about it early on and bought some dinar even though I was very skeptical about it ever doing anything. Being a trucker and running convoys I have seen the alot of really ugly stuff here. And just could not believe that this could be anything like Kuwait. But a couple years ago it really started to turn around and there seems to be alot of hope here now. I really think that we are close to seeing this pay off soon. I got more last year even though my wife was against it. Maybe if it RV/RI's soon I can afford that divorce I've always wanted. LOL Hang in there folks! The miracle will happen.~~~~~Bluto

A LOP of 3 zeros would be a devalueation of 1000% if done before a RV. In my opinion I think the LOP is only the idea of pulling the large notes out of circulation, probly to be done after a RV and smaller notes are availible. What is certain though is that anything is possible. And no one really knows. So for me I just I just hang on a wait. It is my understanding that after a RV/RI all wages and prices for goods would be readjusted to reflect the new value. So if there making 1 million dinar a month now and we get a 1 to 1 RV they would be then payed 1000 dinar a month. JMO

It is 3am in the morning here on the 14th as I post this. I have nothing new in the last day or so but I am at a base about 100 miles from Baghdad. The only news we get is from the Armed forces network. Nothing local except what we can get online. Really hopeful that there is excitement in the streets could be the sign we have been looking for.

I would be willing to bet that the folks high on the food chain at CBI know something. And perhaps they would share it with the higher ups at other major banks. So who knows?
