What do you mean? Less than 2% of the slavery documented around the world occurred in America. Our country was founded because people wanted to be free and wanted to be able to worship as they saw fit, instead of how their king or the ruler wanted them to worship. Just because I believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God doesn't give you the right to call me names or personally attack me. Jesus came and died so I am not subject to the law. That doesn't sound like control to me. He came so I could be free. Yes, some people use religion to control people, there is no denying that. People use money for evil purposes too, but you log onto this site and are educating yourself in the hopes you can have more of it. Does that make you evil too? No it does not! I am entitled to my opinion just as you are and you and I should be able to get along even though we don't agree with each other, shouldn't we?

Iraq was a poor, poor country until oil was discovered and then we found all these uses for oil. They were like a homeless person who won the lottery and got a monthly stipend. They have been spending it ALL for decades. Now they have some leaders who are trying to help them become fiscally responsible and some (who have been taking advantage of the wealth) are pushing back. If the leadership can hold fast and keep them on the track they are now on, they can have great wealth as a country. There is a difference between wealth and income. One can fluctuate wildly and one is stable. Once they can show the world that they are on track to become wealthy, they will gain international recognition and we will get what we want. This is all just my opinion.

Theseus, I too believe that Islam has been a thorn in the side of freedom lovers for thousands of years. They were the "cause" of the renaissance because of their utter destruction of Greece, they were the "cause" of Christopher Columbus discovering the Americas because they cut off the silk road from eastern Europe to China, and they were the "cause" of the Netherlands having such a great economic history hundreds of years ago because of all the Jews who fled to the Netherlands escaping the muslims. They caused all these events by trying to either capture and convert or destroy ALL other civilizations. They burned libraries and destroyed historic sites all over the world trying to destroy people's knowledge of history. We still see it here today in America in what they call cancel culture. They are using the same playbook over and over again. Destroy the history of a civilization and within a few generations, no one will even know about it. Then you can put "your history" into the minds of the people. They are already replacing the history in our textbooks in schools. Sharia law and our constitution are about as opposite as black and white are in the color scheme. They are totally incompatible, so they want to destroy our way of life. I appreciate your insight in this area.

I am not arguing that. But I have a friend who decided he didn't have to pay his taxes because they were unconstitutional. After a few years, they came after him. Last time I talked with him on the phone, he said, "Don't say anything you don't want others to hear. This call is probably being recorded". 😄 There is the way it is and the way we would like it be. I try to live in "the way it is" world and make the best of it.

Taxes are ALWAYS only a percentage of what you make. I am not saying I agree with the way our government spends our money. I am doing things now legally that will cut down on my tax liability. Adam has some great thoughts on this. Even if the taxes on this investment end up being 40%, would you rather have 60% of your investment or 100% of nothing?

I think that there are lies and propaganda being spread from both sides. There are two sides to every story and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. Folks on both sides love being right (don't we all!) and want to prove their side is right. One way to do that is to bash the other side. None of us know the truth. We know what we think is the truth so we live our life in that truth. I have strong opinions too, I just don't share them as often as some of you do. I appreciate the passion on both sides. We all have to stand for something, right?

Wouldn't it be disheartening to come to the end of your life and realize that you had sold your soul to the devil for a couple of millions bucks and a position that there was no way on the face of the earth you could have ever earned legitimately? Your family can only call you "the big guy" and your country laughs at you. We have a group of people here who stand for something. We stand for what we feel like is the right thing. We hold out, even when it's frustrating, because we want to be able to do some good for the world in our lifetime. We want our family and friends to be proud of us. We strive to learn an honorable life. I can see it in the comments y'all make and I really appreciate them. We don't always agree, because we are humans and are all different, but we are always learning from each other, even when we don't always come from the same perspective. We are iron sharpening iron and we will succeed!
