Thanks, rockfl9, but that's not really what I was asking... I know about the exclusion limit for gifts, which by the way is currently $14,000 per person (http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/What's-New---Estate-and-Gift-Tax).. I was really wanting to know if opening a joint bank account with my child would be taxable as a gift... when the RV comes, I'll be giving lots more than $14,000... just trying to figure out how to keep it from being taxed to death...

Somewhere I think I remember somebody suggesting opening a joint bank account with one's child instead of gifting IQD or after-RV USDs... I think the point was that the gift tax could be avoided, as well as avoiding the child's tax liabilities... does anybody have any more info about this course of action?.. Thanks!..
