  2. Ah, the sweet sound of a hammer ringing off the face of an anvil; pure poetry.
  3. Same here ya'll... wife and I were sitin' there with our chins to our chest as Keenum dropped back and squirmed in the pocket. We just couldn't figure out how the Vikes let the game get away from them. And then... he let it fly. I didn't think Diggs was going to catch it and when he did I didn't think he'd make it out of bounds. Wife and I jumped up without blowin' out our knees screemin' 'Go, Go, Gooo! What a game!
  4. That was pretty darn near eloquent Dive. I may need to order some of that there special balm you've been brewing up...
  5. Exactly TD... the UN has no control over the US Constitution or its amendments. We've discussed this before some years back. The intent is for the UN members to agree to curtail illegal arms manufacturing and transfer to unstable regimes and terrorist organizations. Our Constitution provides that the president "shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur" (Article II, section 2). The blue helmets are'nt coming anytime soon.
  6. "ISIS needs to understand that the Joint Force is on orders to annihilate them. So, they have two options should they decide to come up against the United States, our allies and partners: surrender or die! If they surrender, we will safeguard them to their detainee facility cell, provide them chow, a cot and due process. HOWEVER, if they choose not to surrender, then we will kill them with extreme prejudice, whether that be through security force assistance, by dropping bombs on them, shooting them in the face, or beating them to death with our entrenching tools. Regardless, they cannot win, so they need to choose how it's going to be." Army Command Sgt. Maj. John Wayne Troxell
  7. I went to the LA Rams game last Sunday and was moved by the Rams gesture of respect during the National Anthem and WWII flyover. They stood shoulder to shoulder on the out of bounds line: trainers, everybody. While on the Niners side pretty much everybody stood except for a few knuckleheads in the middle. They of course were boo'd. God Bless America and the troops that protect us. GH

  9. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Executive Order 13303 was issued on May 22 , 2003 by United States President George W. Bush to protect the Development Fund for Iraq for the rebuilding of Iraq from any legal attachments or liens. Further, it protects Iraqi oil products and interests and ownership by US persons (defined to include US corporations) from attachment as well. Executive Order 13303 also terminates sanctions specified in EO 12722, EO 12724, EO 13290, as it applies to the development fund. In effect, EO 13303 provides an extraordinarily broad legal shield for any and all contractors and mercenaries working in Iraq on behalf of US corporations in any oil related enterprise. Effects of EO 13303 The primary effect of EO 13303 is the legal protection of US oil companies. EO 13303 is part of a broader endeavor by the Bush administration to exert control over Iraqi oil revenues. The plan centers on the Development Fund for Iraq, created by the United Nations and nominally controlled by the United States, with advice from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The second part of the plan is EO 13303, providing absolute legal protection for US interests in Iraqi oil. Controversy Critics of EO 13303 contend new debt for Iraq will accrue from the new Development Fund for Iraq. They say that it will allow opportunities for grave abuses because it offers little illuminating context and its tone suggests the language should be read quite broadly. These concerns stem from the apparent likelihood the fund will be used to leverage US government and corporate interests. The United Nations Security Council approved Resolution 1483 on May 22, 2003, ending economic sanctions against Iraq while clearing a path for the transfer of over $1 billion from the Oil-for-Food programas seed money for establishment of the development fund. Critics are also alarmed because all proceeds from the sale of Iraqi oil and natural gas are to be placed into the fund, noting developing countries have amassed huge debts in exchange for selling out their natural resources to powerful corporations. This paradigm, they contend, cloaks corporate welfare and neocolonialism in terms of 'poverty alleviation', and now in Iraq as 'humanitarian assistance'. There are differences between the original text (UN Security Council Resolution 1483) and EO 13303, which may lead a court to hold implementation is overbroad. From the White House May 27, 2014: EXECUTIVE ORDER - - - - - - - ENDING IMMUNITIES GRANTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR IRAQ AND CERTAIN OTHER IRAQI PROPERTY AND INTERESTS IN PROPERTY PURSUANT TO EXECUTIVE ORDER 13303, AS AMENDED By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, as amended (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.), section 5 of the United Nations Participation Act, as amended (22 U.S.C. 287c) (UNPA), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, have determined that the situation that gave rise to the actions taken in Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, to protect the Development Fund for Iraq and certain other property in which the Government of Iraq has an interest has been significantly altered. Recognizing the changed circumstances in Iraq, including the Government of Iraq's progress in resolving and managing the risk associated with outstanding debts and claims arising from actions of the previous regime, I hereby terminate the prohibitions contained in section 1 of Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, as amended by Executive Order 13364 of November 29, 2004, on any attachment, judgment, decree, lien, execution, garnishment, or other judicial process with respect to the Development Fund for Iraq and Iraqi petroleum, petroleum products, and interests therein, and the accounts, assets, investments, and other property owned by, belonging to, or held by, in the name of, on behalf of, or otherwise for, the Central Bank of Iraq. This action is not intended otherwise to affect the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, as expanded in scope by Executive Order 13315 of August 28, 2003, which shall remain in place. This action is also not intended to affect immunities enjoyed by the Government of Iraq and its property under otherwise applicable law. I hereby order: Section 1. The prohibitions set forth in section 1 of Executive Order 13303 of May 22, 2003, as amended by Executive Order 13364 of November 29, 2004, are hereby terminated. Sec. 2. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is hereby authorized to take such actions, including the promulgation of rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA and the UNPA as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this order. The Secretary of the Treasury may redelegate any of these functions to other officers and agencies of the United States Government. All agencies of the United States Government are hereby directed to take all appropriate measures within their statutory authority to carry out the provisions of this order. Sec. 3. This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person. Sec. 4. This order shall be transmitted to the Congress and published in the Federal Register. BARACK OBAMA Personally, I am waiting for an EO from President Trump that fully answers the following question: Did the Bush & Obama administrations plan on paying for part or all of the Iraq war by collecting taxes from the revaluation of the dinar? If so, guess who the taxes would be collected from... GH
  10. So true Shabs - DNA mapping and RFI technology makes absolute sense for all the wrong reasons. People will fall for it though... might even camp outside on a cold New York sidewalk just to get the latest version. Very few people take the time to figure that the technology that frees them today has the underscore of enslaving them later. Pinging cell towers by LE to locate a criminal or suspect looks good on Forensic Files today but, the only difference between now and the future is the definition of a criminal/suspect and the location of the RFI; from cell phone to thighbone. I highly recommend Tony Scott's 1998 prophetic film "Enemy of the State' starring Gene Hackman, Will Smith, Lisa Bonet, Jack Black and Jon Voight. Ya, that's right, 1998... almost 20 years ago... GH

  12. Satire my friend, satire. Sarcasm etc. call it what ever but don't call it evil inevitability because you'll scare off all of the smart phone and smart watch wearers and the government will half to shut down all of the cellphone towers. GH
  13. Haven't heard anything like this come from the White House EVER. "Today’s the day that I’ve been very much looking forward to all year long. It’s one that we have heard and we speak about and we dream about. And now, as the President of the United States, it’s my tremendous honor to wish America and the world, a very Merry Christmas. I want to thank everyone who has come together here; right in front of the White House, that beautiful, beautiful White House, and everyone watching from home to see the light of this incredible national Christmas tree. For nearly a century, through good times and bad, every president has taken part in this wonderful tradition first started by President Coolidge, but I was informed tonight that the weather we have is the best it’s been in twenty-five years. In fact, I said, “Is it always like this?” and the secretary said, “Hasn’t been like this for a long time,” so we’re very lucky. Finally, in 1870, President Ulysses S. Grant signed legislation making Christmas a federal holiday. And I sort of feel we’re doing that again. That’s what’s happening. From the earliest days of our nation, Americans have known Christmas as a time for prayer and worship, for gratitude and good-will, for peace and renewal. Melania and I are full of joy at the start of this very blessed season; we’re thrilled to think of the people across the nation and all across the continent whose spirits are lifted by the miracle of Christmas. For Christians this is a holy season, the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Christmas story begins 2,000 years ago with a mother, a father, their baby son and the most extraordinary gift of all, the gift of God’s love for all of humanity. Whatever our beliefs, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of this incredible life forever changed the course of human history. There is hardly an aspect of our lives today that his life has not touched; art, music, culture, law, and our respect for the sacred dignity of every person, everywhere in the world. Each and every year, at Christmastime we recognize that the real spirit of Christmas is not what we have; it’s about who we are, each one of us is a child of God. That is the true source of joy this time of the year. That is what makes every Christmas merry, and that is what we remember at today’s beautiful ceremony, that we are called to serve one another, to love one another, and to pursue peace in our hearts and all throughout the world. And so tonight I thank the millions of Americans who light our lives and brighten our wonderful communities. I thank those serving the needy during the season and throughout the year. I thank our military men and women who are stationed around the world keeping us safe. I thank our law enforcement officers, who protect our streets and secure our homeland. I thank America’s teachers, pastors, and all those religious, and those people that have taught us so much, for their leadership in our communities and our society, and especially tonight I thank America’s families. At Christmas we are reminded, more than ever, that the family is the bedrock of American life. And so, this Christmas, we ask for God’s blessings for our family, for our nation, and we pray that our country will be a place where every child knows a home filled with love, a community rich with hope, and a nation blessed with faith. On behalf of Melania, myself, Barron, all of my children, all of my grandchildren that are here with us tonight, I want to thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America. Thank you very much. Merry Christmas, everybody. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, thank you." Gracious, kind and uplifting. GH
  14. What a waste... all the Federal government has to do is to require a DNA sample from all newborn babies and a RFI chip inserted subcutaneously. GH
  15. Country Report No. 17/366 : Jordan : Technical Assistance Report-Public Investment Management Assessment (PIMA) Author/Editor: International Monetary Fund. Fiscal Affairs Dept. Summary: Jordan’s public finances have deteriorated since the mid-2000s, resulting in a significant reduction in public investment. In response to several negative external shocks, notably the Iraq and Syria crises and the 2008 global financial crisis, the government has reduced public investment and stepped up the use of public-private partnerships (PPPs). Capital expenditure as a share of total expenditure for the general government decreased from around 7 percent of GDP in the early 2000s to around 4 percent of GDP in the years following the 2008 global financial crisis. Consequently, Jordan’s public capital stock stood at 77 percent of GDP in 2015, compared to 140 percent of GDP in 1990, and the capital stock per capita in 2015 was lower than those of peer countries with similar income levels. 16. Dive, you are truly the master of multi-tasking to the 'nth' degree.
  17. So true,my friend. It's another good reason for parents to get involved with the local school district. I attended a public Jr. High/ High School in the LA area that required all 7th grade boys to take 1/4 of Home Mechanics, 1/4 of Wood shop, 1/4 of Metal shop and the worst being a 1/4 of Mechanical Drawing. To this day my block printing is perfect, I know how to glaze a window, repair a screen door, fix a leaky faucet, make my own wrenches with a forge and turn a nail-set on a lathe. Did I mention I can make my own shoe shine box as well...? Obviously, not all of those skills are required today but the fundamentals of problem solving and respect for the proper use of tools remain. Yep, and I don't like paying someone to do what I can do either. That's why I keep my kids and grand kids on speed dial to program my smart phone and wireless system. GH
  18. An awesome bird for sure. When one considers the history of our Air Defense flight and, in particular the development of ‘Recon/Strike’ flight from the late fifties forward it causes one to truly take a deep breath, step back and bow in humble awe. Now add in the fact that the SR71 is retired… WHAT replaced it…?
