Traditionally, here in the U.S., prices @ the pump climb right after July 4th & fall before Labor Day, then up again....just my observations. I know that there is a great difference between the price of crude and the mark-up that refiners charge, but as crude prices increase the prices we pay for all refined petroleum distillates rise also.

I do not think that the IMF was trying to mislead anyone and believe that was the intended target date but Iraq has big problems meeting any calendar deadlines.....the middle eastern mindset just does not comprehend things like we are accustomed to.

The ball remains in Baghdad's court. This behavior of the Kurds....hiding funds by using private banks has got to stop. I completely understand the Kurds frustrations and their rationale .....but, transparency has to happen with both Baghdad & Erbil. Trust and cooperation are essential for Iraq to prosper and flourish. Abaidi has been a straight shooter & is doing his best to slow corruption to a manageable level, but none of these goals will be achievable until these things are done: (a) pass all pending laws (b) initiate the Federation Council (c) begin indicting all the current felons (d) return all the land stolen from the Kurds (Article 140) & (e) pay the citizens ( HCL hydrocarbon law ). The Federation Council will have a tremendous impact on all the stealing, extortion, murders, etc...It is an oversight to the judiciary and makes certain that folks like Maliki, who has tremendous wealth and power, are indicted and charged for their crimes & keeps a close watch on the judges, like Medhat Mahmoud, to make certain that favors cannot be bought.

DAASH is issuing a bunch of idle threats. They are being obliterated and just like any animal that is scared and cornered, snarling and snapping. Look at Maliki, he knows his arse is toast and we see him doing the same thing......threatening and attempting to rial everyone to go at it.

Great highlighting of the article, Synopsis...... Iraq has Squandered 202 billion from 2014-2016.... The squandering is over. The World Bank and The International Monetary Fund have set benchmarks and guidlines and there are more auditors in Iraq watching all the money allotments to the various departments within Iraq's government. Muqtada al-Sadr does not want al-Abaidi's job as Prime Minister. They are both from the same tribe, Shia.... Sadr is doing this to scare the living hell out of all the corrupt parliamentarians. He made the statement a few months ago that he wanted the corrupt in proxy government ministries gone, install technocrats and pass all remaining pending legislation. Sadr will send over a million folks out into the streets very soon if these folks in Parliament fail to do what is best for the CITIZENS. He gave the government until the end of Ramadan, to accomplish these things. He also told Abaidi that if he could not make certain that all these things are done......he could. Sadr is all about the government helping the citizens & following through on the promises they have made.

No country is going to get 1st dibbs on any reconstruction of Iraq until first, the U.S. & secondly Great Britain, get their fill. Remember, we are the provisional defacto government of Iraq. It was the blood of our soldiers that freed their nation from Saadam & his maniacal sons, Uday & Qusay. Our corporate entities will get first choice, then the Brits. If there are projects that neither of these two are interested in, then other countries can bid on them. That gigantic treaty that Iraq signed with the U.S., The Strategic Framework Agreement holds Iraq legally to many, many things.

All these separate tribal militias are going to have to all be brought together as The Iraqi Army, or whatever acronym they choose. Parliament needs to get of their a**es and pass the conscription law so that all these forces are combined and trained to be as one cohesive unit. Thanks Thug for bringing this great article.
