  1. I am posting this here as I am curious if this will drastically improve or slow things down or have no effect on Iraq at all. It worries me that it will, thoughts on the matter? This is just the beginning I am afraid. By EILEEN SULLIVAN and MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Eileen Sullivan And Matt Apuzzo, Associated Press – 6 mins ago WASHINGTON – Authorities on three continents thwarted multiple terrorist attacks aimed at the United States from Yemen on Friday, seizing two explosive packages addressed to Chicago-area synagogues and packed aboard cargo jets. The plot triggered worldwide fears that al-Qaida was launching a major new terror campaign. President Barack Obama called the coordinated attacks a "credible terrorist threat," and U.S. officials said they were increasingly confident that al-Qaida's Yemen branch, the group responsible for the failed Detroit airliner bombing last Christmas, was responsible. Parts of the plot might remain undetected, Obama's counterterror chief warned. "The United States is not assuming that the attacks were disrupted and is remaining vigilant," John Brennan said at the White House. One of the packages was found aboard a cargo plane in Dubai, the other in England. Preliminary tests indicated the packages contained the powerful industrial explosive PETN, the same chemical used in the Christmas attack, U.S. officials said. The tests had not been confirmed. In the U.S., cargo planes were searched up and down the Eastern Seaboard, and an Emirates Airlines passenger jet was escorted down the coast to New York by American fighter jets. No explosives were found aboard those planes, though the investigation was continuing on at least two. Obama's sobering assessment, delivered from the White House podium, unfolded four days before national elections in which discussion of terrorism has played almost no role. The president went ahead with weekend campaign appearances. The terrorist efforts "underscore the necessity of remaining vigilant against terrorism," the president said. While he said both packages that contained explosives originated in Yemen, he did not explicitly assign blame to al-Qaida, which is active in the Arab nation and long has made clear its goal of launching new attacks on the United States. Authorities in Dubai intercepted one explosive device. The second package was aboard a plane searched in East Midlands, north of London, and officials said it contained a printer toner cartridge with wires and powder. Brennan said the devices were in packages about the size of a breadbox. While Obama didn't specifically accuse Yemen's al-Qaida branch, Brennan called it the most active al-Qaida franchise and said anyone associated with the group was a subject of concern. The radical U.S.-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who now is in hiding in Yemen, is believed to have helped inspire recent attacks including the Fort Hood shooting, the Times Square bombing attempt and the failed Detroit airliner bombing last Christmas Day. Another American hiding in Yemen, Samir Khan, has declared himself a traitor and has helped produce al-Qaida propaganda. Most of the officials spoke on condition of anonymity, citing the ongoing investigation. Brennan later told reporters that the explosives "were in a form that was designed to try to carry out some type of attack," but he provided no further details. "The forensic analysis is under way," he said, adding, "Clearly from the initial observation, the initial analysis that was done, the materials that were found in the device that was uncovered was intended to do harm." Intelligence personnel had been monitoring a suspected plot for days, officials said. The packages in England and Dubai were discovered after a foreign intelligence service picked up information related to Yemen and passed it on to the U.S., one official said. U.S. intelligence officials warned last month that terrorists hoped to mail chemical and biological materials as part of an attack on America and other Western countries using the mail. The alert came in a Sept. 23 bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security and obtained by The Associated Press. In the hours following the discoveries, Yemeni officials and Scotland Yard were investigating and the U.S. issued a 72-hour ban on all cargo from Yemen. "As a precaution, DHS has taken a number of steps to enhance security," the Homeland Security Department said in a statement. "Some of these security measures will be visible while others will not." U.S. authorities conducted searches of aircraft in Philadelphia, Newark, N.J., and New York City. Since the failed Christmas bombing of a Detroit-bound airliner, Yemen has been a focus for U.S. counterterrorism officials. Before that attack, the U.S. regarded al-Qaida's branch in Yemen as primarily a threat in the region, not to the United States. The Yemen branch known as al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula has since become a leading source of terrorist propaganda and recruiting. Authorities believe about 300 al-Qaida members or cells operate in Yemen. The Yemeni government has stepped up counterterrorism operations, with help from the U.S. military and intelligence officials. Mohammed Shayba, general-director of the state airline's cargo department, said the government is conducting an investigation. "Those in charge are in constant meetings and they are investigating and taking the issue seriously," he told The Associated Press. (This version CORRECTS that packages, not planes were bound from Yemen.) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101029/ap_on_bi_ge/airports_suspicious_packages
  2. Bringing a post is a positive contribution even if the article is negative. They brought something to the table. That is a contribution and not everyone likes the posts. Neg the personal behavioral post, digs, disrespect, not debate.
  3. Look at all the negative marks on this thread, a thread that holds as much truth as any other. (All BS till it happens) That being said I have clicked to try to at least make them 0, they certainly do not deserve a - for posting an article to be sure. Other than articles its all opinions and speculation. These posts on this particular thread do not deserve a negative even if you do not agree. A thank you gets a negative? Serious? Linked articles get a negative? I can see saying something like you do not like what is in the post but linked? Do not discredit someone in my opinion for posting a linked story. We all know 99% of linked stories can change or be bad in an instant. Maybe its just me but a negative should only go for rumors not someones opinion or article. That is their view and entitled to it. It does not make them a bad person. I see the minus as a discredit to the individual and I think even if they bring bad news that has not yet been seen they should get a plus. They are just doing their part in this venture to help make sure it is all seen. Many deserve a minus for some pretty distasteful stuff and or lies or rumors but if you do not like their opinion leave well enough alone should be enough. Just my thoughts. I plus good articles with good sources even if I do not like it to thank the person for bringing it. Most of you probably do not care but I felt it was worth saying.
  4. You didn't but the top link is Maliki so I included Allawi. So both sides of those two are given from the same source. The BBC
  5. But the British-trained neurosurgeon has again become a leading contender for the job after his Iraqiya bloc's narrow victory in March's parliamentary election. Barring a successful challenge by Prime Minister Nouri Maliki's State of Law alliance, Mr Allawi will be given the opportunity to form a coalition government, paving the way for weeks of political wrangling. A secular Shia, he has promised that Iraqiya "will open its heart to all political forces and all those who want to build Iraq". Put it all up there lol
  6. And his time in Syria when he fled from Iraq http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4932468.stm Profile on Allawi, showing British trained with ties to MI6 and the CIA, former baath party and fallout with Sadam. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3757923.stm
  7. I agree, further more Maliki blames our troops and contractors and I think this may hold possible truths I also think this is a diversion on Maliki's part. Placing blame, I do not believe this is over and think that the US will do all in its power to see Maliki does not get it. Not saying he won't but that in conjunction with Allawi having ties with the US I just think there is a strong potential for him not to get it. I posted it here. Washington, United States of America (CNN) - response of the Office of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, to the criticism that the arts because of the information disseminated through leaked documents site "wiki Lakes," describing what has been said about the role of Iraqi security operations to kill civilians as "puppets and bubbles media, "and accused the site in coordination with the media exploit the information to crack down on it. He said al-Maliki that the media has published some documents," of course selective, "and added that it is divided into two parts," speaks first for the actions of the U.S. military and security companies affiliated to the U.S. in Iraq, a section which must be taken into account for its view of the U.S. military, which can be described as confessions on the work done by some of its units or subsidiaries or security companies like Blackwater. " He said a statement from Maliki's office that these issues was the reason to criticize the Iraqi government to the rules of engagement applied by the U.S. military, which "has reached the point of a crisis between the two sides." The statement that the second section which deals with parties to non-American "does not enter in the circle of recognition, but can be considered sometimes accusations must be viewed with caution and referred to the investigation," he said, adding that the Iraqi government "will take these documents into consideration to see through the investigation of the extent of conformity to the truth to be the follow-up so legally. " The statement that "the uproar that led some of the media authorities under the cover of the documents mentioned against the parties and leaders of national and especially the Prime Minister raised the style and timing of more than a question mark," returned and stressed the "Confirm confidence consciously citizen perception vision for these games and bubbles of information that stand behind them political objectives are known not to deceive our people. " The statement spoke of "collusion" between the site and wiki Lakes "and the points of media campaigning on the Iraqi government. 8. Will someone please GET the wheelchair so we can GET them back to 2West. (Mental ward in most hospitals)
  9. I am with Scooby Doo on this one, if they cut it in half by removing the 3 zeros off of the thousand notes it would reduce yes the amount out there yes but I think you went the opposite way of which it would affect us. Please clarify. This would GREATLY reduce your million to a thousand by my math. Am I missing something here? (provided everyones dinar are in the thousand notes) reiteration would be appreciated! ^ R
  10. OK I will say it, CIA. There I said it. Part of the infamous alphabet soup. According to the profile on Allawi by the BBC, he has very close ties to the CIA. Hmmm now who was a threat to Allawi? anyone? Ok so could he have had a little help in this matter? Can you say conspiracy theory? Of course and also just cause you think someone is watching you doesn't mean the they aren't.:lol: Yes you read that last statement right, ok go back and read it again.......This is actually very feasible.
  11. No not clear but yes, HUGE very HUGE. Now to me, THIS IS A SIGN! Man I love it when a plan comes together! OK now, Did they ever finish paying for the planes to Kuwait??? Is that still hanging in the balance? Someone?
  12. I too saw this video and agree with you that this could be the meaning of what he was vague about:D Sooooooooooo in the spirit of the moment GO RV lol. I tried to look for something too but OK I'll bite.
  13. Hey, I got an idea but I am not good with stories so someone make this for me...... How about It twas the night before Christmas and all through the house. Not an Iraqi was stirring not even a mouse. and then the Chimney part and make Santa Shabibi and the scrooge Maliki and so on and so on. Then everybody click your heels three times in your red slippers and repeat, just the dinar that I own, just the dinar that I own, just the dinar that I own. Oh yeah almost forgot. And Toto too. Then everyone can open their presents the next morning and have a heart and a brain courage. Not to mention the RV. Or is that New Years? And to all a good night!
  14. I have stated from the start that I nor anyone can say what will happen until it comes to pass. However to your question on the notes. All the articles and statement from the past from the CBI or the Media have reguard to removing the zero's or the thousand's notes or some refer to the top three thousand notes. Stating that they will leave the smaller denominations as they are. Many in these forums have read it the same way. Many think it is refering to the 0's on the value end. The ones to the left of the value. The ones I have spoken with that I look up too and respect say that they see it and read it as it says from the notes. It does say the Notes. The links are all over the lop section and other sections in the DV site as well. I don't know. I am waiting as excited as anyone in here to see the final outcome. What I believe is this. If a Government invested millions and gets back a 10 cent return on the dollar they still did great and won't cry about it. It stands to reason for them to redenom as most countries have. Only the little guys (most of us) would not see a significant return compared to the big players. I think if it does not drop the zeros you will see a deadline to turn them in until they can take them out of circulation. During which time I think the exchange rate will be on the lower side until the thousands are off the streets. After that deadline I think that they will be worth nothing. Then at that point you will see the rates increase. Everyone I have spoken with on one to one calls or chats have concurred. Let me put it this way, if you started a new bank (or started over) and new currency, sold all you could, and then wanted to revalue. Can you afford to take what you made from a thousand percent reduction in price as this has and then reverse it to a even exchange let alone a plus side like anywhere from 1.01 to even 3.45 and afford to stay in business? They are in this not only as a banking business but to support a nation. I do not think anyone will disagree with the fact that first and foremost this bank has to support Iraq. Secondly the bank has to support the bank and its share holders. Not the money holders. Now to pay all of us at a 1,000% increase? I have never seen a casino pay out on every machine at once. They would be out of business. Back to the original question of the smaller notes.....Yes at this point in my opinion they will not print up all new money to rid themselves of a few. I think it will come out low (hopefully not) at which no countries or millionaires will complain for investing a millions and making, still a great return. Many on the market put hundreds of thousand on something and pull out if it goes up in small change and smile all day. It is only business sense to do. But that is just my opinion until I see something different on paper from what the CBI has said in the past. Sorry if it is not what you wish to hear but it is what I feel from what I have read. Not in rumors either lol I know they have investments too, but that is their profit they do not wish to turn around and pay it all out. Some yes, not all.
  15. I can I can, THE TRUTH TO THE MATTER IS............. The truth to the matter pertaining to the RV is that it would be nice! It would help SOOOOOOOOOOo many not only in Iraq but the world over. And yes my friend I am not delusional as to a belief, cause the truth is no one knows what is going to happen until someone with power enough to make a decision somewhere and make it come to fruition. When the day comes that we can actually go to the bank or place of choice, then the truth is not one person can say what their government will do or when and where anything will happen. I for one though am dumbfounded by actions of the governments anywhere. The only thing I am delusional on is do I need that other cup of coffee,,,,,,, Cause I think I do. Just messin Mongo. Good post bro.
  16. Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to do the research and bring it here. I do look forward to a confirmation translation if you can get it too. Thanks again.
  17. Looks to read that it could end on this day if all can be agree'd to. It aslo looks like it could be just the start of the meetings to resolve this too. Hence step, meetings is plural, towards a program, and they even mentioned the GET TEAM being in a wheelchair lol
  18. Not necessarily true. The CBI stated this month after the court ruled last month. last month was stated by the court, the 3 zeros would not be removed. Since then the CBI stated that they would meet with the new gov once seated to determine this. First off, I agree there will be mass confusion and havoc. However the origional statement and many follow up statements was to leave the smaller dinar in circulation but only to remove the 3 zero's from the top thousand notes. That to me reads the 25,000 the 10,000 and the 5,000. The last thing told was on the video translation of removing the 0s from all the thousand dollar notes leaving the lower denom's in circulation. It never stated in any of the articles of the lower denoms losing their value. But yess the 25,000 would be worth 25.00 at a 1 to 1. Ali told me on the phone that if they did do a redenom of any money they would have to do all the money but that is not what was told on the tv translation or the CBI web site. Once they make the decision, at that point it will be to late to do anything about it. Not like they will tell you in advance and give you time to change anything. Now My thoughts on this..... My hope and thought would be that if they do anything to change anything they will do it all and let us exchange it. But .... My fear is that it will be to lower the value so lets say you have a thousand invested you will only make a thousand on it. Just an example. It would make more sense for them to do it from a business stand point since they would not have to pay out but a fraction of what was paid in. Then everyone makes money. We just do not make what we want or expect too. Just business logic, not my wishes or thoughts when I invested. DO not SHOOT the MESSENGER please. I have been reading this crap for 6 years. I will wait to see what the CBI does with the new government according to their last statement. PS. Banks aren't in business to lose money.
  19. I am not in agreement on all your facts but I too think there is a possibility from happening now to the first few months into the new year. My original thoughts after reading the letter of intent 3 times were the first of the year. Since 05 when I first was involved I have never thought it has had potential until the current events that led up to this month. That being said I took a negative off of yours as you are entitled to your opinion as we all are. Would have been a good title (in my opinion).
  20. Plus it was not from a news media or the CBI:o
