Worlds largest army

True story and most people will never know it.

Here's an interesting side bar. After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River . Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships in other localities, so why did they not invade?

After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer....they know that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.

1. The world's largest army... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this....

2. A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

3. There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin .

4. Allow me to restate that number.

5. Over the last several months, Wisconsin ’s hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

6. More men under arms than in Iran .

7. More than in France and Germany combined.

8. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

9. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters,

10. All of whom have now returned home.

11. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that

12. The hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. The number of Hunters in the state of Texas would

be the largest standing army in the world by it's self.

13. The point?

14. Americawill forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

15. Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

16. That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

17. Food for thought when next we consider gun control.

That is why Japan decided not to invade the mainland during WWII. Another bonus feature to having so many armed citizens... it helps keep our government somewhat accountable... guns are not just to put food on the table folks, they are there to protect us as well... from all enemies, foreign or domestic! And that was the intention of the founding fathers all along! God Bless America! wink.gif

Rod...you know I am one of your BIGGEST fans....but Tiger, I have to ask a question that is begging to be asked...which is, do you think our military men and women would ever turn against the American people? They are sworn to protect the Constitution...not a person, so if the Commander in Chief gave an order to kill unarmed civilians, the commanding officer could by law not obey...as doing so would violate the Constitution.

I'd trust my life any day of the week and twice on Sunday to the men and women who stand on the wall to protect me. Their integrity is above reproach.

I'm pretty sure you weren't insinuating this...but just wanted to make sure! :)

Should I say it wouldn't be the first time that they have violate the Constitution?

But I don't think it would ever come to that.

Tiffany my dear, I feel pretty confident, like you at the moment but ... do a little research, and find out how many U.N. soldiers are allowed on our shores... it's kinda scary when you realize we are quickly heading towards a one world mindset and away from a sovereign entity. Yes, I would like to believe that these young impressionable soldiers wouldn't turn on their own families, but remember Germany, and many, many other countries?.... just saying, it isn't entirely impossible to happen here (a scenario I definitely don't want). When a three star general I saw insists he won't own a registered gun that his own government can track what kind of statement is that sending? I would rather be safe... than sorry! wink.gif I love your input sweetie, we all need to keep an open mind in our interaction with each other, there are always two sides to the coin... and don't forget the edge! eyebrows.gif

While I, as many are aware, disagree with about 99% of the posts by our colleague rtrusty. However, this is an example of the 1% I can agree with.

Don't mess with the American citizen! We may not agree on all things all of the time, but each and every one of us will defend our great country! :D
