The U.S. embassy in Iraq, said in a statement releasedtoday, and received "Sumerian News" copy, "The U.S. Air Forcehad, earlier this month, the transfer of airspace management for the sector ofBaghdad to the Civil Aviation Authority in Iraq," indicating that"monitors air traffic Iraqis are now responsible for managing anddirecting the movement of all aircraft within the airspace in Baghdad, which isthe busiest and most complex in the country. " The embassy said that "this step, receives Iraq fullyresponsible for the control of traffic within the airspace for the first timesince 2003," arguing that it "represents the culmination of theefforts undertaken by both the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Air Force and theCivil Aviation Authority of Iraq, in order to help Iraq the development ofself-sufficiency and the system of air traffic control. " The embassy confirmed that "The decision aims tosupport economic development in Iraq and its sovereignty under the umbrella ofthe Strategic Framework Agreement", noting that "This work, whichbegan opening control center the Baghdad area in August 2007, became a step ata steady pace towards the process of transferring responsibility for monitoringIraqi airspace in fully. " The Embassy continued to "U.S. trainers and the Britishhave set up monitors air traffic in the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, tobecome qualified to cope with growing air traffic already in Baghdad and fiveother international airports in Iraq." Controlled by U.S. forces since 2003 to monitor air trafficin all governorates of Iraq except the Kurdish region. The civil aviation in Iraq suffered a complete paralysisafter the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and the imposition of economicembargo on Iraq, and did not resume traffic until after the overthrow of theformer Iraqi regime in 2003, took control of U.S. forces to monitor air trafficacross the provinces, and saw in the recent recent remarkable expansion in airtraffic to and from Iraq with the region, as Iraqi cities witnessed the openingof a number of airports such as the city of Najaf, in addition to airports inthe territory of Kurdistan. It is noteworthy that of Iraq and the United States signed,in 2008, the Convention on the strategic framework to support the ministriesand agencies of the Iraqi transition from the strategic partnership with theRepublic of Iraq to the areas of economic, diplomatic, cultural and security,based on the Strategic Framework Agreement and to reduce the number of PRTs inthe provinces, as well as providing important sustainable for the rule of law,including the development of the police and the completion of the coordinationand supervision and the report of the Fund for Iraq relief and reconstruction.
