Rep. Steve King:Obama could be impeached over debt crisis

Iowa Rep. Steve King said Monday that President Obama could face impeachment if the country goes into default.

“Obama would be impeached if he blocked debt payments,” King, a Republican, wrote on Twitter.

King prefaced the comment by writing: “STOP talking about default. The 1st dime of each $1 of revenue services debt.”

His comments come as Obama is negotiating with Congress over a debt reduction package that includes raising the country’s debt limit by the August 2 deadline.

King ended the tweet with a reference to the Republican “Cut, Cap and Balance” plan he supports that passed in the House last week, but was killed in the Senate.

It would require spending cuts and caps along with a constitutional amendment for a balanced budget.

kmseeker,

Thanks for the post!

I read that as of this year for every dollar the Federal Government spends 40 cents is borrowed... Think of that! Who could run their own budget like that?

and

(you have to read all the way to the last paragraph on this one to get to the conclusion).

I love some of these Republicans in the House. They open the first session of congress this year by reading the Constitution. But they screwed that up an skipped parts of it. Then they thought two members could be sworn in by video, since they were busy gladhanding some lobbyists in the hallway and missed the ceremony.

Now they want to impeach the President for something that is clearly denoted in that very Constitution as being the responsibility of the House. Plus, President Obama hasn't blocked anything. They haven't sent him a bill to sign.

Maybe Mr. King should go back and watch Schoolhouse Rock and see how a bill becomes law.

I have a serious question. What has he done, that no other presidents have done, that warrants impeachment or treason?

Where have you been the last couple of years? 1st question to ask yourself is how is the economy doing? This one president has out spent all of our presidents combined and has single handedly put the US into the crapper. He wants to tax $ to the business owners of america, the very ones that create jobs. He has grown and expanded goverenment at a rate that has become unsustainable. Do we really need czars to head our government. No, this guy is taking from everyone that can make $ and disperse it to his socialist programs. Every decision he has made has been the wrong one, including all the bailouts and the stimulus package. I cant even get started on Obamacare. another one crammed through. And when I say crammed, I mean it was made into law against the Rep vote. They had majority in the house and senate if you remember. So it is an all inclustive liberal policy. What a joke and he was told not to do it but he, Harry Ried, and Nancy Pelosi, crammed it down our throat. And now just a week ago, the govt sold off its remaining stocks of chrylser for a loss of 1.3billion dollars. Thats yours and my damn money he just pissed away. This joker might be a lawyer, but is the worst leader we as a nation have ever seen, and he certainly does not have one shred of business sense. Its apparent now that they dont teach lawyers that at harvard.

So funny, he opened his address to the nation last night by saying how damaged the economy is, and it wasnt his fault. It was Bush and Boehner doesnt want to play fair. I cant wait till hes impeached. Maybe I can start building homes again, I guess I will have to continue to wait.dry.gif .

http://blog.heritage...pose-obamacare/ All you need to do is read. It does not take much to find how damaging this guy has been in office. And if you still not convinced yet.

Here are some of the promises he failed miserably *up to 2009*

PolitiFact, a political accountability project run by Florida's St Petersburg Times, has formulated an "Obamameter" gauge that registers seven broken promises, a dozen stalled initiatives and 117 pet projects still "in the works".

Here is the top 10 list of most glaring examples of Mr Obama falling short in key areas he trumpeted during his campaign.

1.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said he would "not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days". But the "sunlight before signing" promise has already fallen by the wayside with Mr Obama signing three major bills without public scrutiny.

2.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama repeatedly said he would negotiate health care reform in televised sessions broadcast on C-SPAN, the public service network. Instead, he his approach has been no different from his predecessors, holding talks behind closed doors at the White House and Congress.

3.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama solemnly pledged that "no political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years". In practice, Mr Obama has granted several waivers to this rule, allowing lobbyists to serve in the top reaches of his administration.

[what's this] 4.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said he would end income tax for the elderly making less than $50,000 per year, thereby eliminating taxes for seven million of them. This has not been part of his economic stimulus bill, his first budget outline or any legislation proposed by the White House.

5.PROMISE STALLED. On taking office, Mr Obama announced with great fanfare that the Guantanamo Bay prison camp would be closed within a year of his inauguration on January 20th. Defence officials now concede that this self-imposed deadline will not be met.

6.PROMISE SIDELINED. Mr Obama promised to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that prohibits openly *** personnel from serving in the United States armed forces. Despite reiterating the pledge this weekend, Mr Obama shows no signs of taking concrete action on the issue.

7.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said that in 2009 and 2010 "existing businesses will receive a $3,000 refundable tax credit for each additional full-time employee hired". Democrats on Capitol Hill opposed this and Mr Obama has quietly abandoned the proposal, omitting it from his list of requirements for draft legislation.

8.PROMISE BROKEN. During the campaign, Mr Obama promised that "as President I will recognise the Armenian genocide" carried out by the Ottoman Empire after 1915. Once in office, he travelled to Turkey and made no mention of genocide. In a statement in April on the memorial day for the genocide he spoke of the "heavy weight" of history and the "terrible events " of the period but failed the use the g-word.

9.PROMISE SIDELINED. As a candidate, Mr Obama highlighted his support for abortion rights, stating he would back this up "by passing the Freedom of Choice Act as president". At a press conference marking his first 100 days, Mr Obama said this was "not my highest legislative priority" and that it was important to "focus on those areas that we can agree on".

10. PROMISE SIDELINED. Mr Obama promised to end warrantless wiretaps on the domestic communications of Americans and to "update the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to provide greater oversight and accountability". So far, he has taken no action.

It is my understanding that impeachment is reserved for something that a particular person did themselves ... like your previous President who went a little far in the "I did not have sex with that woman." type of thing.

So tell me. When your current, duly elected President, entered upon the scene, was everything perfect? Were all the debts paid up and lots of money in the cookie jar, and prosperity and peace just oozing from the entire United States of America in every way measurable?

If it was, and things are screwed up now. perhaps Mr. Obama has a few answers to come up with. But if it wasn't, if he interited a mess, how can you impeach him for a can of worms he was handed and couldn't just dump out and start over. No President gets to start over on their watch ... they inherit the mess left from the last guy. And from what I understand it was some mess.

So don't be so darned quick to be such an anti-American just because it happens that the American Way has led to the American Dream becoming an American Nightmare. This has been on the way, in the making, building up, for a looooooooong time. And like it or not you are part of it too.

A proud Canadian, willing to see our faults, why aren't you willing to see yours?

It's evident you take things at face value or Fox value! Both Obama and Bush share the 2008-2009 deficit cost; over 2 trillion dollars which includes the wars and bailouts. You probably don't know GW initiated the first bailout plans.

You probably don't realize Americans vote for certain bills and that bills come with cost. Bills created on Capitol Hill by Reps and Dems, Pres doesn't do it alone.

Bet you blame him for NASA shutting down their flights also.

You surely think it's a snap of the finger to stop this down spiral economy. These fights are good for America at the same time shows it's weaknesses and faults.

First thing the smarty Reps say is "how's that working for you". Quite childish huh!

You should also read about the success of the bailouts and how much money has been RETURNED.

I tell you this also, it wasn't as easy as he thought. President's power is still limited. He's not able to do it all at once - if at all.

Really simple, google any hate you have and read the various opposite credible articles.

Barry's mom should have gone to Planned Parenthood in Honolulu and had him aborted....i would have gladly picked up the tab on that one....

Hmmm I guess you're that kind. sick :(
