k98nights
200 tons of adulterated tea seized by Iraqi customs Wednesday, April 13th 2011 2:18 PM Baghdad, April 13 (AKnews) - The Customs Directorate of the Iraqi Finance Ministry revealed on Wednesday that 11 vehicles were seized carrying 200 tons of tea mixed with wood shavings and sticks imported by an Iraqi trader through the Traibil border port. The Director-General of the Customs Directorate Nawfal Khalil told AKnews that the Directorate has opened an investigation into the shipment. "The Customs Directorate is performing its duties according to the law and following up all materials entering the country that do not fit with the general specifications that qualify them for consumption," he said. The Iraqi government called in June for direct supervision of the country’s land, air and sea border ports, stressing on the importance of their centralized administration managed exclusively by the Finance Ministry. The Iraqi government announced on November 4 last year a plan to consolidate the management of border crossings and oversee their work through the formation of a central committee. smee2
Here in Canada I have sampled some pretty terrible tea ... well in days gone by at least. And we would never use wood shavings to beef up the weight of the tea because wood shavings have a better, and more profitable use in making things like fibre board and wood stove pellets. We beef up the bulk and weight of our tea with floor sweepings. Well that is how some of them taste! smee2
