In my shop October 2008 about 1 week prior to the election that brought us B.O. I asked my shop if they would like to take an informal secret poll as to who they thought would win the Presidency.

They nearly 100% said yes, as long as it was secret. I said of course and everyone will use the same type of paper, same pen and only an "X" would represent their vote.

So we completed the vote and wouldn

545 vs 300,000,000

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years, and currently writes for the Orlando Sentinel. For further information about Mr. Reese, see the article attached to the email.

545 PEOPLE

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propo se a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash The polit ician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is u nfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire &nbs p;and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Sad but true, Obama would be worshipped by most posters here if he could cause the RV to happen tomorrow. The Possum is moving to A warm, sunny island and drink rum all day laying on the beach once he cashes in. This country is road kill and Possum is getting out.

I'm not American, but the world watches America and it's politics, i guess we watch as a friend, as every move America makes effects every country and people. I must say looking in from the outside a year ago watching the elections, many of us looked at Obama as a good talker or more like a wolf in sheeps clothing, i personally see Obama putting America in debt to a point of it's down fall, maybe i'm wrong and maybe it's none of my business, but it will effect not just America, but everyone! My question to my American friends is,

- do you see what i see?

- if you see what i see, is there a way out of this mess?

- is Obama as popular as he was a year ago?

- what next?

Please be kind if you respond, i'd rather hear real people than listen to the news! Educate me!

i certainly appreciate your insight and your opinion, Moolay...saw all of this myself as well the last several years...unfortunately the majority of my countrymen saw things differently...Obama is a good speaker, yet says nothing of substance, and people still believe him. I feel the weak of heart and mind are the kool aid drinking believers that continue to follow him, or the extremely wealthy that have money invested in him or his promises(george soros, et al)...i could be wrong...unfortunately for people like you, our allies, you can no longer count on the help of our once great country...for that my friend, i truly apologize. I wish i could change things, but i can't. I hope that you do not live in the middle east, on the med, in a country that obama has abandoned...a country we have befriended for years. If you do, I support you and your country, wish you the best and want to let you know, that not all Americans think or believe like the socialist wackos, that have taken over.

Best wishes.

I am assuming that all the NEGATIVE people snuck out from under a rock in 2009 and discovered the condition the world is in. Dummies, this did not happen with the election of President Barack Obama. Where were you the prior 8 years? Yes, this country is in bad shape and as always-----when there is hard work to be done, they give it to a Black man so they can blame him for what the Bush administration and Republicans have done to this country. President Clinton handed this country over to Bush with a surplus budget, no active wars, and low unemployment stats. President Obama received it in this condition. Wake Up people!

Bush did not get the country in perfect shape either, also he had to deal with the terrorists clinton did not deal with (correctly that is).

Try and remember the country was in a recession when bush received do you remember the internet bubble?

also the housing mess goes back decades specifically to 1977 and on from there. Many presidents and congress's were responsible.

Of course b.o. did not cause it, he is just not doing a very good job at fixing it, imo.

I do not care that he is black, personally i would have voted for him if i liked his positions, but i did not.

I would have voted for Powell, but alas he did not run.

So call me a racist if you will, it only shows your age in mentality.

When you state something as a fact be willing to back it up with some thing that shows the facts.

here are a few links showing you a few facts.

Airline deregulation act of Carter

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline_Deregulation_Act

Banking Deregulation act of Carter

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deposit...ry_Control_Act

Carter Deregulation of oil

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1979_energy_crisis

Carter deregulated banks, oil, the trucking industry, the railroad industry, and airlines, leading to many of the problems we now face. Many of these industries are in big trouble now.

And just an FYI, this housing bubble officially started when Jimmy Carter signed the Housing and Community Development Act of 1977.

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=6782

And in 1999 (October and November 1999) Clinton AND 90% of congress voted for and signed the repeal of the Glass-Steagal Act of 1932-1933 (two of them)

congress in 1999 was controlled by the Republicans, so they bear some of the blame, but clinton signed into law. but more than 90% of congress voted yea or yes for those that don’t know yea.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass-Steagall_Act

I still haven’t seen anyone show me anything that cause the current banking mess that BUSH caused?

Or are you so ignorant to the fact that the Democrats like Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd and other block his actions to regulate the banking industry specifically the way they (banks) are to qualify borrowers and to reregulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from being able to have purchased the loans that forced them into bankruptcy or near bk?

It was not BUSH that caused this crisis with lowering taxes or going into Iraq.

It was 15+ trillion dollars of bad loans written on homes that arent worth that much.

It was greedy wall street and banks that caused this and they were in some ways forced to by the act of 1977 and allowed to go even further when greed set in on them with the repeal of the Glass-Steagall act.

If you think you know better, go and read the causes of the Great Depression!

Then look at the similarities of the current financial mess this country is in.

It has nothing to do with taxes, it has 100% to do with banks and wall street.

From carter to obama they are all to blame. + congress.

Correction there, Bill Clinton handed this country over to Bush with it already in a recession, that is why Bush had the tax cuts to keep money in the American peoples pocket to try and detour the recession even farther, and there you go with the black comment again, can't stay away from it, I agree that the government is all government, Democrat and republican and they are ALL to blame, but Clinton tied the hands of the CIA and the FBI and left our country vulnerable to 911. And with 911 it changed the whole outlook of what George Bush's Administration was going to try to accomplish and that we will never know whether it was bad or good. If you go back and look the Republican has only had control of HOuse and Senate for 2 yrs and the rest has been controlled by Democrats so don't go there with blaming Bush for this mess it is all of them, but with the Banking industry and Wall Street you can lay that on Barney Frank and the rest of the Democrats, that is fact go back and look at CNN's Senate hearings on Fannie may and Company and they are all on tape disputing the warning signs by the republicans. So don't lay all this on MR. Bush, the democrats hold a lot of blame and Obama is a Democrat. Go back and read my recent post, it is not Obama that worries me it is who's behind him in his party. So leave the color card home and look at the facts we are all in this together and we need to wake up and pull together and wake our government up. My ? is, is what Obama doing now going to benefit the country, look at the Health care bill alone, the community meetings did he listen to the American people? no! he is looking to push his own agenda no matter what the American people say and I think the first three words of the Constitution is WE THE PEOPLE , but Congress doesn't honor that anyway!

Dummies? You have got to be kidding me. Clinton's legacy as a leader is so bad, he needs all the sycophants like you he can get so maybe he will not slide into history as an abject failure like Carter. Clinton has NO achievement he can point to as his own that he can claim. Any noteworthy legislation that passed was as a result of the bills introduced by the Republican administration that swept the House and Senate in 96. Clinton was such an embarrassment to the prestige of the office that until this clown showed up we didn't think it could get any worse. At least Clinton had enough brain cells left in his empty gourd that he knew enough to lick his finger and see which way the wind was blowing and ran from the far left back to the center because of the polls and the results of that midterm election.

As for the last eight years, we had LOWER unemployment than at any time during the Clinton administration. Clinton at least left the appointees from the Reagan and then Bush administration in place to run the economy while he was using Lewinsky as a humidor. The economic principals from the Reagan era helped us through some of the nineties, and the dot com bubble gave us the pleasant illusion of hyper prosperity. So, give me a break....

As for the no active wars....that is because Clinton was so weak on defense, that the situation we face now was allowed to develop under his incompetence. Let's see, Al Qaeda hit us in Somalia (Blackhawk Down), we ran away....WTC bombing in 93, we did nothing, Khobar Towers,....nothing,....US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania,.....nothing, USS Cole in YEMEN,....nothing.... see a pattern here when you allow liberals that fear, despise and have contempt for the military take command....

The financial ruin we are seeing is not ALL the Democrat's fault, at least I am intellectually honest there and not a Kool Aide drinker that just buys the BS line coming from the Democratic party like yourself.

But, the housing bubble, sub prime lending mess etc. are FIRMLY laid at the feet of the Democrats. The corruption and unaccountability that went hand in hand with the social engineering "feel good" legislation have taken a heavy toll on our economy and for you to blame Bush and throw out that weak racist accusation just because we don't agree with this president's socialist agenda is pathetic.

You can't win an argument based on fact, so by all means, use a childish emotional response to negate anyone else's disagreement with your assessment.

FACT, the recession of 2001 can be tracked back to it's beginnings in 1998. Oops, Clinton was in office then. We were attacked at the heart of our financial sector on 9/11 and the recession we were already in the midst of did not deepen because of good decisions made by W and his team. We had record employment for those eight years and were safer because of the aggressive actions taken by that administration to keep us safe.

The major faults I will throw at W's feet were when he weakened and compromised with the liberals in order to get the funding he needed to continue to keep us safe.

I could go on and on in so many directions to point out where you are wrong, but arguing with the likes of you is almost as productive as arguing with my 2 year old, only with less productive results.

I have no problem with anyone that has opinions contrary and respect anyone that takes an opposing opinion to mine and can state their case with clarity, FACT and respect. But I lose all patience with people who are so weak in their position that they retreat to the tired old, "Racist!" crap when they suddenly find themselves out of ammunition in the face of a real intellectual firefight.

I personally do not wish the president of our country any ill will at all, but when I see what his agenda is and how detrimental it is to our way of life and security, I want to see him and his party stopped. Period.

I did not fight for my country on three continents, nor did other members of my family or the millions of others that served, to see this country be sold down the river and turned into another failed socialist state.

It's not the black, or the white part of this man that I find distasteful, it is the RED (as in communist) side of him that animates me.

Please, I know that your computer has a spell check, but make sure you take the time to do a fact check before you spew.

But I know, I know, you will never let a few FACTS stand in the way of a strong OPINION.

The following graph is from this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S._presidential_terms

If you want to see how the various presidents have handled the amount of public debt, just look to this graph. The top graph is the amount of public debt in trillions of dollars since 1955. The bottom graph is normalized as a percentage of our GDP. This is all factual public data which you can research yourself.

Unemployment in Jan 2001 when GW took office was 4.2%. It only increased in the 8 years following reaching a high of 7.2% in Dec of 2008. When Bill Clinton took office in Jan 2003, unemployment was at 7.2% and steadily declined throughout his presidency until leaving with it at 4.2%.

You have valid points and you have presented them in a respectful manner, but just some of the numbers appear to be incorrect.

The terrorist attacks in late 2001 kept this country in a recession by all meaning of the word.

Yes, i know we were not in a real recession, but then why didnt the FEDERAL RESERVE RAISE RATES until 2006 i think?

and if the country had not been in the recession when they started raising rates again, then problems 1. would not have happen. 2. lenders would still lend. 3. people would not have lost their houses.

Bush did not creat the housing bubble that caused the reccession we are in, and the recession that we did not ever come out of under Clinton.

Clinton admin. started the lowering of the prime rate, the Bush admin was forced to keep the rates lower.

Keep in mind the Fed only makes those decisions so was it bush, the fed, clinton?

Greenspan kept them low, bernake has kept them low.

and until rates are normalized we are screwed. END.

By the way who controlled congress and voted the balanced budget into law?

I know Clinton was forced to balance the budget and it is ok that he takes credit for it, but who wrote the final budget?

and from the 1930's to 1994 who controlled congress? until 1994?

it is not the President that writes the bills that become the laws.

place the blame where it stands if you are going to take credit for it make certain to give the credit where it is due.

I dislike them all. and i am looking forward to the time that the people of this country stand up and fire all 545 of them.

Here is the old "taking the eye off the ball" tactic alot of politicians use to deflect off them and onto others.

This thread is about Obama. Lets debate the pros and cons of Obama. Lets start....what has he done GOOD his first year in office??

Ok I am done....cannot think of a thing. Too late at night and too tired to compile the list of bads he has done to date.
