Shafaq News/ The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, stressed to a number of members of the US Congress, on Thursday, the necessity of implementing the Iraqi constitution to guarantee the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan and protect the entity of the region.

 

A regional government statement received by Shafaq News Agency stated that Barzani met in Washington, DC, with former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, and Representatives Seth Moulton, Don Bacon, Brad Wenstrup, and Amata Coleman.

 

He stated that at the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of the members of Congress, Congressman Bacon welcomed the Prime Minister of the Territory’s Government.

 

For his part, the Prime Minister expressed his thanks and gratitude to the United States for its continued support and assistance, stressing the necessity of implementing the Iraqi constitution to guarantee the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan, and to protect and respect the constitutional and federal entity of the region.

 

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, expressed her happiness at the Prime Minister's visit to America, and also stressed her respect and appreciation for the courage, struggle, and sacrifices of the people of Kurdistan.

 

For his part, Congressman Moulton stressed his country's support for the region by saying: "We support strengthening the Kurdistan Region by all means."
