Committee member Jamil Al-Hadidi said in a press statement, “A lot of talk accompanied the launch of the electronic passport project and the exorbitant fees imposed on citizens wishing to obtain it.” He added, "The committee learned during its meeting with Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari that the contract had been concluded at the time of the former minister," noting that "the taxes imposed on issuing this passport to citizens are illegal because they must be legislated by law." Al-Hadidi stated, “The committee discussed many matters with the Minister of Interior regarding the work of Civil Defense, the General Traffic Directorate, and Intelligence, and the mechanism for placing the right people in the right place when selecting figures to assume positions in the ministry.” The committee member also criticized “the mechanism for delaying the disbursement of the budget to departments, institutions and governorates, which was prevented from holding accountable those who may be reluctant to implement projects or disbursement operations, and praised those who spend the amounts on the correct projects that serve citizens,” noting that “since the budget was approved and its instructions were published in the Official Gazette “The projects could have started from then on so that the House of Representatives could monitor them.” Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
yota691 Posted October 11, 2023 Author Report Share Posted October 11, 2023 Launching the electronic passport system in Kirkuk The first 2023/10/11 Kirkuk: Nahdet Ali Kirkuk Governorate opened the electronic passport system with international technical and security specifications, making it the eighth governorate operating in it. Governor Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri explained to “Al-Sabah” that his administration opened the electronic passport system, to begin working with it for the first time to serve the citizens of Kirkuk, and to simplify the procedures before them in obtaining the passport, noting that the governorate provided a modern building for the Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence, equipped with cooling systems and elevators. Electricity and computers, expressing his administration’s support for the process of using modern technologies and automation, in a way that enhances citizen confidence in state institutions.
