The Central Bank and the World Bank are discussing strengthening institutional governance frameworks for the banking sector

 

Today, Wednesday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, discussed with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank the strengthening of institutional governance frameworks for the banking sector.


The Central Bank said, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that "Makhaif received today a delegation from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank headed by the Regional Director for the Middle East, Khawaja Aftab Ahmed; they discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and strengthening it, and the projects completed between the Central Bank of Iraq and the institution were reviewed, Including a project to strengthen institutional governance frameworks for the Iraqi banking sector, prepare the regulatory framework for financial leasing activity, as well as

the accession of the Central Bank of Iraq to the international sustainability network. 

 

Also, according to the statement, "future projects that include developing the environmental and social aspects of the Iraqi banking sector, and developing the capabilities and expertise of workers in the banking sector, were discussed."

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq receives a delegation from the International Finance Corporation


His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mr. Mustafa Ghaleb Makhif, received on Wednesday a delegation from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank headed by the Regional Director for the Middle East, Mr. Khawaja Aftab Ahmed. During the meeting, they discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and its enhancement, and reviewed the completed projects between the Central Bank of Iraq and the Corporation, including the project to strengthen the institutional governance frameworks for the Iraqi banking sector, the preparation of the regulatory framework for financial leasing activity, as well as the accession of the Central Bank of Iraq to the International Sustainability Network. They also discussed future projects that include the development of environmental and social aspects of the Iraqi banking sector, and the development of the capabilities and expertise of workers in the banking sector.
