After Washington’s threats, the "Qasem al-Jabarin" militia joins the agreement to stop attacks on American forces

 

 

 

The American threats did their effect with some pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, as the militias announced that they would stop firing Katyusha rockets at American targets in Baghdad.

A spokesman for the pro-Iranian Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades alluded to, saying that the US threats to close the embassy had made things "very complicated" and called for an easing of tensions.

A new militia from those groups, which some Iraqis call them through the Katyushas or the state factions, announced their accession to that conditional truce, attributing the reason to "preferring peace over war."

The submerged militia named "Qasim al-Jabbarin" made it clear that it had joined the agreement to stop attacks on American forces, as soon as possible, in coordination with the Iraqi government.

This comes in conjunction with the security forces arrested a group of rocket launchers at Baghdad airport, which led to the death of a number of civilians after they fell in the vicinity of the airport.
The sources also revealed that the detainees belong to armed militias.

A spokesman for one of the most powerful factions backed by Iran in Iraq added that there is no specific deadline for the government to implement the decision.

In addition, he said that the launching of Katyusha rockets at US forces and diplomatic complexes “were messages to the Americans” and that more severe attacks could occur later.

It is noteworthy that Washington, which has been slowly reducing its 5,000 troops in Iraq , threatened last month to close its embassy in Baghdad if the government did not curb those factions that launched attacks on US interests with missiles and planted roadside bombs.

The American warning caused alarm in Iraq, as this was considered a step towards launching air strikes, which could turn Iraq into a battlefield in a proxy war between the United States and Iran.

A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, MP Abd al-Khaliq al-Azzawi, confirmed, on Monday, that the terrorist organization ISIS has lost 4 of its most important leaders in specific strikes during the past 3 weeks.

Al-Azzawi said in an interview with Al-Malouma, that “the Counter-Terrorism Service, the intelligence services and the rest of the other formations, during the past 3 weeks, carried out a series of specific specific operations in 4 provinces, including Diyala, which resulted in the killing of many ISIS terrorists, including 4 important leaders in the organization.”
