A seminar organized by the Iraqi Economic Council examined the deterioration of the industrial reality in the country and its causes and the most important problems faced by Iraqi industrialists and investors.
The participants called for the need to activate the laws (protection of national product, consumer protection, anti-dumping and customs tariffs), demanding the re-calculation of their prices according to tariff rates that were specified by the Government of the Center and approved at the border crossings before their unification with the Kurdistan Region for imported goods, Similar to national production.
The seminar also included the demand to strengthen the national product to compete with imported goods, discuss the reduction of funding grants for all investment projects, reduce interest on loans and approve the project as collateral for the loan. The seminar also discussed the problems that stand in the way of pharmaceutical industries, such as the difficulty of registration and control.
 
Positive data
"Our industry has recently fallen significantly, but there are efforts that have contributed to the development and support of our national industry, as well as positive data and substantial support from the top of the executive and legislative hierarchy," said Ibrahim al-Baghdadi, head of the Iraqi Economic Council.
Sheikh Hamam Hamoudi, head of the Islamic Supreme Council, praised the role of the government in supporting the private sector and preventing the importation of non-essential goods, adding that "there is a contract in the previous laws in addition to the bureaucracy that is obstructing."

For his part, said Minister of Industry and Minerals, Dr. Saleh Abdullah Jubouri: "As everyone knows that the industry in Iraq suffered what suffered the problems and was the most prominent bureaucracy hindering the work of the management of the industrial sector."

He pointed out that "our doors are open to the private sector, but we need to work hard to promote the economic sector and local industrial reality."
Local product
After that, the head of the parliamentary finance committee MP Haitham al-Jubouri said: "We issued decisions obligating the minister to protect the local product, and we have a legal article not to import ice cream and refreshments from neighboring countries."
He stressed the existence of "other texts to support the private sector, including the allocation of one billion dollars for investment projects, and recommended that the land on which a plant if the sex of agriculture is converted to industrial, pointing out that the protection of the product must coincide step by step with the reform of the industrial sector.

What? They thought that digging themselves out from under that old school Sharia law way of thinking was going to be easy? To the hardliners that is called losing. The wheels of progress keep churning away, albeit slowly. These boys got a lot of wood to chop. I hope they substantially raise the exchange rate as a first step on implementing this plan of industrial expansion.

 

Great article 6ly410. Gives us a glimpse of what they are up against. The sad thing is, if they could get the right people to do a little bit of actual work, these industrialists would do the rest. All parliament has to do is clear the road for these guys and it's game on.
