billbill
Thanks Rod, I couldn't agree more. Here is another one that rings true even though the origins of the following are questionable... About the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2000 years prior: "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." "The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: > 1. From bondage to spiritual faith; 2. From spiritual faith to great courage; 3. From courage to liberty; 4. From liberty to abundance; 5. From abundance to complacency; 6. From complacency to apathy; 7. From apathy to dependence; 8. From dependence back into bondage " Like I said, the author of this is not determined to be necessarily true, but I really don't care. The message is clearly seen in our society today. Where do you think we as a nation are at this time? Kind of scary to think about... Edited September 6, 2012 by billbill

I only hope and pray that it can be reversed to some extent or I really don't hold a whole lot of hope for our children's future being anything closed to being described as "free"!

Just wanted to let you know - today I received my 2012 Social Security Stimulus Package. It contained two tomato seeds, cornbread mix, a prayer rug, a machine to blow smoke up my ass, 2 discount coupons to KFC, an "Obama Hope & Change" bumper sticker, and a "Blame it on Bush" poster for the front yard. The directions were in Spanish. WOW... there must be an election coming up or something... cause the email box is filling up with stuff... here's the latest! RodandStaff
Leave it to the liberal press to be-little the Expression of Religious Faith by the beautiful, young Olympic Gold Medalist Gabrielle Douglas. This so so typical of the narcissistic, judgmental, overbearing moralizing of the left who can not tolerate other views or perspectives on morality. You either view the world the way they do or they will have government force you to conform to their moral orthodoxy. Here is the despicable article in Salon if you care to read it: http://www.salon.com...le_douglas_win/ I have waited a long time to say this about the media... "Dayam Racisits!!! Lostrn
What cracks me up about all of these posts is this: A) Do you REALLY think that Obama spent more in four years than Bush did in his eight? Really? With a congress that has said no to almost every thing the man tried to change? This congress has said no like a parent says no to a teenager. How were we to pay for the two wars and the cost of all the new departments/services that were created out of the events that occurred on 9/11- The Department of Homeland Security and the salaries of all the Air Marshalls and TSA employees? C) Which president signed the TARP law into effect again? D) Do you really think that a healthcare law that does more to protect all of us from the greed of insurance companies and their ability to deny treatment, deny coverage, deny anything based on everything they can think of is that bad? If you are in an automobile accident and are severely injured- you get care period, even if you dont have insurance. If you dont pay- you still live and everyone else pays for you anyway... is that better? There is not one state that does not mandate every one that drives a car to have insurance- because that is the only way it is fair for everyone. People dont read the details in "obamacare" they just read the hype. I have worked in healthcare for 30 years- the insurance companies are the only ones that win; they are the ones who have made this into such a bad thing. If you have a job for 20 years and have high blood pressure and diabetes and the company you work for goes bankrupt, are you willing to let an insurance company that covers you in your new job deny you care for your pre-existing conditions of high blood pressure and diabetes? E)Do you really think That this president, or any president, can make corporations stop hoarding their money and squeezing out every inch of productivity out of the employees they do have, and only offering minimum wage, part time jobs with no benefits? All of these things come down to one thing- GREED. 3

See the link below from 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUPZJDBJI84 Get your calculator out.... Lostrn
I really think that in the past three and a half years that the national debt would have risen approximately the same amount regardless of who was president, that was my point. 2
