Parliamentary committee: tariff system will enter Iraq to WTO

It is VERY hard to imagine them enacting the Tariff Laws with the currency at this value. Their Department of Agriculture has BANNED foods from outside of the country, and prices are rising (as well as tempers). I don't believe that the ban will be lifted until the tariffs start, as the same reasons have been given for both: low quality, overpriced goods that are unsafe, coming across the border, as well as trying to promote goods grown/produced iside of Iraq. This is also driving inflation up. The price of the US dollar is up (because of demand), which has the same effect as the dinar going lower in value, making it even worse.

The government is going to take a LOT of heat for this, from the people, Sadr and the List. The Kurds won't feel this as fast, and will be a couple of weeks behind in their displeasure, but will join in. They either reverse this ban on imported foods, or RV to prevent an Arab Spring situation, and believe me, they don't even want to come CLOSE to that!

It is TEN WEEKS until June 1st. I think it will be interesting to see how long Maliki can last without doing whatever it takes to get to an RV. I think that immediately after the Summit, Maliki turns into Mr. Nice Guy.

I believe one of WTO stips is that they have a currency that can be traded as well. Soooo.........all this could be done by June. This is telling cause now Shabbs has to find the magic number for exchange. Too high inflation, too low inflation. I really can't wait to see what the magic number will be. I really am interested in how all these numbers fit together. Story problems were not my strong suit, and I am no economist, even when all the numbers to figure it out were there. So 90 days, I'm down with that. It's all good, and I'm happy. For the moment, until that other article comes out.
