  1. agreed. but the head of the Finance Ministry did say back in june or july(somewhere in there) that we would see the "lifting of the zeros" before 2011 was over. Saleh has said the same.
  2. wyoming for us in january. hope it rv's by then
  3. np Stryker. and I'm also in the camp of agreeing that the numbers the CBI gives us for inflation and the actual volume of dinar in circulation are totally cooked. double deep fried and extra crispy
  4. "raising of liquidity" in the case of an rv makes sense to me. the CBI will push the lower denoms into the market once it takes place inevitably creating higher inflation at first, and then overtime as people start to turn in their higher denoms and start using bank accounts they'll draw down the cash block over the 2 year period that CBI always talks about. and when it comes to the distributing of lower denoms to the public once it happens, an article last week talking about the new payments system in iraq said that people will be able to "make cash deposits and withdrawals either at branches or at venues such as retail shops that the banks will designate as their agents" -- so thats how they'll get them out in my opinion
  5. thank you for this post. these kind of stories never make it to corporate-media daylight.
  6. I liked this quote-- "it should be encouraged citizen saving the Iraqi dinar (national currency) and deal of banking to win twice, the first benefit of the banking and the second high exchange rate of Iraqi dinar, one of the results of economic prosperity in which they operate monetary policy in Iraq to achieve it" but it sounds like the public and even most economists over there dont really know how it's going to play out. if they were just to lop though, I dont think they would keep spinning their people around in circles with these back and forth articles like they do. imo
  7. he's the official anti guru which makes him just as bad at this point
  8. that chart uses different formulas than XE.com I think because it seems XE gives you the real current actual exchange rate and not the buy/sell rates. agreed.
  9. lol well no shite. just interesting it jumping the way it did when was the last time it happened though? after looking at more charts from 5 years back, big jumps did happen more frequently but I think everyone can agree Iraq was at a different point even 2 years ago. so just made me go Hmmm when I saw it spike so much
  10. I've never seen the rate that low either. imo, they're monkying with it testing some protocols out before it goes through the real change we're all anticipating
  11. I've been in invested in IQD for almost a year now and check the rate a couple times a day. Well I woke up this morning and checked the XE currency app on my phone and was comletely blown away after I refreshed the rates and saw the USD/IQD at 1/ 1198! Never since I've been in this have I seen such a drastic swing. Granted it's only 20 or so dinars, but never has it shifted so much in one day. it's ususally one or two, and sometimes up to five dinar changes but never 20 dinar shifts. check for yourselves, it made my day-- http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=IQD&view=1D
  12. they must want to or something because I see no reasoning behind posting here daily if they really dont think its going to rv. I enjoy this ride but if theyre so certain we're never going to get off of it, why would they get on in the first place? just makes no sense. lol
  13. so why are you here on a dinar forum? more and more of you naysayers come on here every day to "help save us from our dinar demise." if you dont think it's going to rv, why waste your time on here?
  14. I think you may have been built with some fancy wiring to make such deductions. just hope you don't "I,Robot" us...
  15. the title of the piece fits perfectly-- "Iraqi dinars: Smart investment or smoke and mirrors? " these "journalists" don't realize they're the ones blowing the smoke and holding the mirrors.
  16. they dont have a lot of their facts straight... they said major US banks dont deal with it... wrong. and then they said that "it would return to its prewar level of 3 dinars to $1 USD." got those figures mixed up. I wouldnt take what these people have to say as something we should listen to. if they're such financial geniuses, why didnt they spot the mortage crisis?
  17. none of the lopsters ever addressed the point I made previously-- Iraq did say they were emulating the US currency structure...right? I'll have to find the articles but anyways, I cant stop thinking about the 500, 1000, and $10,000 USD denoms that they used to have in circluation, and continue to hold their worth to this day. why would it be any different in Iraq? another thing lopsters don't seem to like to talk about much is the issuing of a new 100,000 dinar note which Saleh's mentioned that numerous times now. why would they do that if they were to lop 3 zeroes off the notes we hold?
  18. I agree Scrum. I keep thinking of the the 500, 1000, 10,000, and 100,000 U$D notes that still retain their worth even though theyre not still in circulation. Iraq did say they were emulating our currency structure.
  19. I'd think that the CBI would be our best source of information. they've told more facts about this than any guru has.
  20. funny cuz Saleh from the CBI and the head of the Finance committee in parliament both said that the lifting of the zeroes would happen before 2011 was over.
  21. "he said, adding that " the bank will step in to curb inflation in the moments as soon found up to the concerned about stability.." "
