At this point this is all speculation. Moving from 1166 to 1100 provides the CBI opportunity to test the banking/finance systems as they move the rate. If they moved it to 1000:1, then, removal of the 3 zeros makes a 1:1......that's an easy transition from USD to IQD for the Iraqi that may not be well-educated. It also makes for an easy transition by all vendors. Moving from 1000:1 to 1:1 makes great sense if.........they truly plan to RV....if, they truly plan to make the IQD on par with the USD.....if......too many ifs.....I'll just wait and see.

I tend to think that they "could" move to 1000:1 and then drop the 3 zeros....but not as a "lop", rather as an RV. A revenue neutral event does not benefit the Iraqi's. However, an RV from 1000:1 to 1:1 does......and, it then allows for simple introduction of the new smaller denoms. It would also very easily de-dollarize Iraq. But it is all speculation at this point!!

Unless they move it to 1000 iqd to 1 usd.....then, drop the 3 zeros....thus, 1:1. Time will tell.

I can't help but believe that all of this G A Y conversation is intended to be a distraction from the economy. It forces Romney/Republicans to give their opinion.....and when they do, they will be attacked as "not caring". In the meantime, the economy continues to struggle along. Unemployment falls while more people stop looking for jobs....where is that story? Fuel prices approach $4 while American oil reserves remain untapped. Where is the pressure on the pipeline? Where is the discussion on what America is going to do to avoid a European debt crisis? Where is the discussion on reducing the debt? No serious discussions exist because we are too busy talking G A Y marriage and rights. Obama wants it this way; the press yields to this nonsense; and the Republicans are unable to put together serious discussions and focus. Yeah, we are in trouble. My 2 cents...........

Why does the word "***" have to be replaced with ***? Political correctness is destroying this country. Homosexuals (can I use that word??) have campaigned for *** rights, *** marriage, healthcare for "partners".....yet, the word *** itself is replaced wtih ***?

.....and he is aligned with Allawi's political block.....hopefully this is a good appointment for both political and security reasons. We'll know most likely today how Allawi and the Iraqi List feel about it....if they are unhappy, we'll see press releases. So far though, they have been quiet---I think a good sign.

Talabani gets an A+ for trying time and again to pull these factions together. I wish Maliki and Allawi had half as much compassion for their country and people as Talabani appears to have. Politics, pride and power......and yet the people of Iraq suffer.

lol.....and I just checked ebay.....you can pick some up there........leaves me scratching my head. Agreed....a 25 dinar coin is currently worth about 2 cents.....let's see you carry a pocket full of those! So, currently a vendor could make change with a 50 dinar note and nothing less.....no wonder today's article talks about having to adjust prices just to meet purchasing ability. We already know you can't make change on near-zero valued currency. This thing is very close to ending.
