The remarks made by Saad Almtalibi, Baghdad's provincial council member affiliated with State of Law Coalition, headed by Nouri al-Maliki, has drew condemnations from a broad spectrum of Iraqi political forces.

Almtalibi, member of the coalition whose head has very close ties to Iran, threatened Wednesday that Kurdish citizens will be evicted from Baghdad and their citizenships will be revoked in case of supporting a yes vote in the coming independence referendum.

They should know that in case of holding the referendum, slated for September 25th, no single Kurdish national will be allowed to stay in Baghdad to hold a government office, and they will be expelled outside Baghdad after revoking their citizenships, he said in an interview.

Office of prime minister Haider al-Abadi was quick to condemn these comments, expressing utter astonishment at them.

"We are fully astonished at these condemned remarks made by one of Baghdad's provincial council members towards the Kurdish citizens living in non-Kurdish provinces, Spokesman for Abadi's media office Saad al-Hadithi announced in a statement.

Encouraging the launch of such remarks jeopardizes social peace and spreads racism and hatred among the Iraqis, he added.

"We have also made clear our position on the referendum on the fate of the Kurdistan region, which we stressed that the Iraqi constitution is the legal reference adopted by the federal government and that all Iraqi parties should abide by and respect its provisions and not take any unilateral steps."

Deliberate defaming

National Iraqi Alliance, headed by the Shiite politician Ammar al-Hakim, also denounced the remarks, describing them as 'irresponsible'.

Such comments are aimed at defaming the Kurdish citizens and denting their dignity, he confirmed, stressing he will continue to defend the constitutional rights of this faction.

As we are about to declare full victory over ISIS takfiri groups, some parties are attempting to foment sedition and discord among the Iraqis, Hakim's statement said.

Maliki foments sedition

Experts told the Baghdad Post that the Iran-aligned Maliki and militias and coalition are fanning the flames of sedition.

What they are doing is totally dangerous, they added, noting, Iran regime gave them the green light to stir chaos and burn Baghdad through sedition.

They called on Maliki to shut up, saying the Iraqis are in no need to listen to traitors and killersAlso, Shiite cleric Taqi al-Deen al-Madrasi called on officials in Kurdistan not to be hasty when it comes to holding the referendum.

He cited 'inconvenient regional situation' as a cause for the Kurdish government to delay holding the plebiscite.

Holding the referendum in northern Iraq compromises the region's stability and represents a disservice to our efforts to combat terror, the cleric's statement said.

Hence, experts familiar with the situation in Iraq said that Maliki and his stalwarts will not stop raising this thorny issue to spread sedition.

Iran directives

Analysts reiterated the assertion that Maliki is implementing Iran's plot, whose foremost aim is to burn Iraqi for its interests.

They cited remarks made by Maliki months ago, where he said Kurdistan region has turned to be a springboard for Israeli intelligence.

He continued to launch rant, saying:"Kurdistan region's head Masoud Barzani should be deterred at any rate, even if this will drive us to use force."

These remarks, which he made in an interview with a Lebanese paper, provoked a strong response from Kurdish presidency spokesman, who said Maliki will be consigned into dustbin of history.

He should have hidden himself after the crimes he committed against the Iraqi people, he added.

Maliki caused Iraq to be at the top of the list of the world's most corrupt countries. And he encouraged plunder and killed transparency, the spokesman Omid Sabah explained.

We inform Maliki through this statement that the battlefield is open, and if he wants to try, we are ready, he noted.

The Kurdish people vanquished enemies whose power had been far greater than Maliki's ones.

Citing the stances of all political forces after this crisis, analysts say Maliki, boosted by Iran support, is pushing the whole country towards further rift.

They asserted the remarks made by the Maliki coalition-affiliated official jeopardizes Iraq's already fragile stability.

No one could predict the consequences of what he and his followers are plotting, the commentators added, reiterating the importance of bringing these devastating ambitions to a halt.

Maliki Plotting Conspiracy in Kirkuk Against Kurds: MP

Kirkuk — Iraq’s former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is attempting to use his influence for sending the Shi’ite militias of Hashd al-Shaabi to Kirkuk as part of his conspiracy against Kurds, said a Kurdish lawmaker.

MP Islam Husseing told BasNews on Wednesday that even some Shi’ite lawmakers who are linked to Maliki are calling for stationing the Iraqi army or Hashd al-Shaabi in Kirkuk against the presence of Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

In mid-2014 after Islamic State (IS) militants crossed the Syrian border into Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi troops escaped the battle and withdraw from Mosul and Kirkuk. However, the last one was protected by the Peshmerga as they soon filled the security vacuum created by the army.

Since then, the Peshmerga are in control of Kirkuk, thus far protecting the city and its surrounding areas against regular IS assaults.

“Kirkuk is Kurdistan’s red line, and nobody can bet on it,” MP Hussein said.
