I'm a Central Valley Tea Party coordinator in Cali and running for School Board in our District... It's NO on all props EXCEPT 32 & 40. Here's info on 30 & 38 and why they're a BIG NO! We need to quit using Children as an excuse for better pensions than I'll ever have... Prop 30 will not offset any funding to our children only tenured teacher retirements and is a lie propagated and funded by teachers unions. Even the California School Boards Association says the initiative provides no new funding for schools. NONE. Californians already pay the highest state sales tax in the nation along with the second highest income tax. Prop 30 will drastically increase taxes and give the money to politicians and unelected special interest groups to spend as they please. Prop 30 is a flawed initiative that raises taxes on all Californians as much as 50 billion dollars over the next 7 years, doesn't guarantee any new funding for schools, destroys small business, kills jobs and includes no reform. Proposition 38 is for stewardship of public money. It would help relieve the state’s budget problems, but only for 4 years. From mid 2013 to mid 2017 30 percent of the money from prop 38 would be directed to paying down school bonds and other state debt, freeing about 3 billion in the state’s general fund for other purposes such as high speed rail, which the people of the valley have been rallying against. Or like Tesla industries which was recently given $10 million from the General fund -OUR TAX'S-to develop an electric car. Tesla is worth more than $84 billion and this $10 million provided 5 jobs. The car will sell for $55-77 thousand. Either of these propositions does very little to help our children. Once again, our children are being used as a tool for union gain. Either propositions are temporary fixes. It’s time to face our exploding debt. Reading, writing and arithmetic (typing and algebra)are the bare minimum requirement. It’s more important for a kid to graduate being able to read and give change for a dollar than play volleyball. NOTE: Ca is 47/50 in per pupil funding nationally yet we start with $12,000 per student and after pensions/wages/operation it is $4,000 net.
