Arab Economic Summit to focus on activating the contribution of States in the Small Enterprise Fund

According to Sheikh (Ambassador) Ali Khalid Al-Jaber Al-Sabah director of economic management in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the second session of the summit of the Arab Economic and Social Development to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh in the 19 th of this month, aims to invite the Arab states that have not yet contributed to the initiative to establish Enterprise Fund Small and medium enterprises in the Arab countries with a capital of two billion U.S. dollars, to contribute because of their impact and support a major role in this sector, considering that the project of joint Arab action in economic, integrated and pays a big return on it.

Ali al-Sabah said that the initiative, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait on the provision of the necessary resources to support and finance private sector projects in small and medium enterprises in the Arab world will have strong presence at the summit.

"The Emir of Kuwait, an initiative calling for the establishment of a fund small and medium enterprises designed to raise the welfare of Arab citizens, the ambitious seeking to add a brick in the construction and development of this great Arab homeland."

He continued, "The number of States that have contributed to the initiative of the Emir of Kuwait in the Enterprise Fund amounted to more than 12 countries, the contributions and reached to 1.300 billion dollars. And to assure that the initiative of the Emir of Kuwait stems from the interest citizen Arab and improve their standard of living to boost the economy in the Arab countries."

And Khaled Al-Sabah said on the summit of the Arab Economic and Social Development at its second session to be hosted by Egypt is the peak of follow-up to economic and social decisions of the Arab Summit held in Kuwait in January (January 2009).

The Arab countries that have contributed to the initiative are: Kuwait $ 500 million, Saudi Arabia $ 500 million, Oman $ 20 million, Egypt $ 20 million, Algeria sum of ten million dollars, and Syria, the amount of ten million dollars.

As each contributed Tunisia five million dollars and Sudan $ 10 million, and Iraq in the amount of five million dollars, and Yemen, the amount of five million dollars in addition to Djibouti, Mauritania and Palestine share one million dollars each.

According to Khaled Al-Sabah that the summit will review the project to link sea between the Arab countries, and project networking Arab Internet and the World Bank initiative in the Arab world, and the Millennium Development Goals and of the recommendations of the "Arab Report on the Third Development Goals Millennium 2010 and the impact of global economic crises in its investigation," and Arab Report Third Millennium Development Goals economic aspects, in addition to projects to support the steadfastness of the Arab Jerusalem.

Sheikh Ali said that the draft Programme of Action of the Summit at its second session includes a review of the three Menendyate: Economic Forum and the Youth Forum and the Civil Society Forum will be held on Saturday, January 15 (January) month.

He added that the joint meeting of senior officials of the Economic and Social Council, and permanent delegates to the League of Arab States will be held on the second day, while held by the Economic and Social Council preparatory to the summit to ministerial level and the other for the Council of the League of Arab States preparatory to the summit at the ministerial level on Monday, January 17 (January ) current.

Egypt will host the 19 th of December bending (January) being in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the second session of the summit of the Arab Economic and Social Development which will be assigned to follow up on progress in implementing the decisions of the Economic Summit, first held in Kuwait in 2009 and to develop new mechanisms to activate development strategies overall.

Although the accuracy of political and economic circumstances surrounding the summit which was attended by 18 heads of Arab countries to coincide with the Israeli brutal aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the negative consequences caused by the global financial crisis on the economies of the world, including countries of the region, the Summit succeeded in out a number of important decisions on how to face the global economic crisis and the preparation of a major integrated projects in the Arab world.

The summit resolutions included the mandated governments of Arab countries benefiting from the program components to grant special preferential benefits for investment in the areas identified in the program, and demand from institutions and Arab development funds, regional and international contribution in providing the necessary financial requirements in the implementation of the program.

The Summit endorsed the start taking the necessary steps for the establishment of the Arab Customs Union starting in 2010, and the implementation of the integrated program to support employment and reduce unemployment in the Arab States, and the implementation of the Arab Program for Poverty Reduction.

The summit, held the year before in Kuwait under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, the implementation of the Arab Program for the implementation of development objectives during the period from 2009 to 2015 in addition to implementing the education reform plan during the period from 2009 to 2019, and improve the level of health care services primary.

He added:''focus exclusively on ways to fight poverty and unemployment, and the integration of technologies and visions of development in modern Arab action, development, and deepen economic integration among Arab countries is not only on the liberalization of trade between Arab countries, but also coordinates between the development strategies in accordance with a comprehensive perspective addresses all the dimensions of the development process of increasing investments in various productive sectors and modernize its infrastructure to develop the system of education and human capacity building, and keep abreast of developments in thought and practice development at the global level''.

And that it is important and precedent in the course of joint Arab economic action, and reveals a qualitative development in the Arab economic action.
