The President of the Republic receives the Governor of the Central Bank

His Excellency President Jalal Talabani acclaimed the role played by the Central

Bank of Iraq in the support and stability of the Iraqi currency. This came during a

meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday December 7th 2010 with the Central Bank of

Iraq Governor, Dr. Sinan Al-Shabibi. His

Excellency President Jalal Talabani pointed to the

important role played by banks in the new

economic environment of Iraq where the Central

Bank of Iraq plays a key role through sound

economic and monetary policies. The Central Bank

Governor, Dr. Sinan Al-Shabibi is praised and

cherished by everyone for his efforts in preserving

the interests of the country, his commitment and dedication in the performance of

his duties. Full support was reiterated for the success of his efforts in stabilizing

the financial sector which is vital and important.

For his part, explained the Governor of the Central Bank, the financial situation of

the country and the actions taken to stabilize the currency depend primarily on

the political stability of the country and the economic and monetary policies of the

Central Bank. In this regard, Dr. Sinan Al-Shabibi expressed his gratitude for the

support and cooperation provided by His Excellency President Jalal Talabani, the

parliament and the government for the success of the Central Bank of Iraq

policies.

Thanks Carla ... :D ... I read this earlier on the CBI website and was laughing loudly .... lol ... these two are busy patting each other on the back , while their country is trying to come out of the darkness. I guess it really does come down to a matter of pride with everything in their culture . While that can sometimes be a good thing it can also cause problems, as we've seen with the GOI's formation.
