Shafaq News / The US Army Central Command reported, early Saturday morning, that its forces launched air strikes in Iraq and Syria, targeting sites of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated militia groups.

The command said in a statement today that US military forces struck more than 85 targets with many aircraft that included long-range bombers launched from the United States.

According to the statement, the air strikes used more than 125 precision-guided munitions.

The statement explained that the targets included command and control headquarters, intelligence centers, and warehouses for missiles, drones, ammunition, and logistical supplies belonging to the militias and the Revolutionary Guard.

An Iraqi military source told Shafaq News Agency that the strikes targeted sites in Anbar Governorate, west of the country, specifically in the “Al-Sakk” area within Al-Qaim District, which is close to the Iraqi-Syrian border.

He added that among the strikes was a site containing a warehouse of ammunition, indicating that the targeting was followed by a large explosion of ammunition and weapons.

The source also indicated that raids are continuing on the Al-Sakkak area, targeting and destroying more than 4 sites belonging to the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades.

He continued by saying that the army vehicles were withdrawn and the electricity and surveillance cameras were turned off due to the war-like situation within the Al-Qaim area.

The American authorities had previously said that American forces in Jordan were attacked by the Iraqi Islamic Resistance, and according to the Pentagon, this strike resulted in the death of 3 American soldiers and the wounding of more than 40 others.

The United States blames Iran for what happened, and according to CBS, the US administration approved, as a retaliatory measure, plans to strike Iranian targets and military personnel stationed in Iraq and Syria.

Saturday or Sunday.. America strikes Iraq and Syria

Shafaq News
/ The United States of America decided, on Friday, to strike targets in Iraq and Syria this weekend (Saturday or Sunday), in response to the attack on Tower 22 in the Iraqi-Syrian-Jordanian border triangle.

The Wall Street Journal quoted American officials as saying, "The desired targets are Iranian forces and sites, and the strikes will be multi-stage."

Earlier, the White House confirmed that the United States may resort to a gradual response to the attack that resulted in the recent killing of three members of its forces in Jordan, and the wounding of more than 40 others.

US President Joe Biden announced, in an interview with reporters, that he had made his decision to respond to the attack that targeted the American base. It is noteworthy that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on January 28 that an American base on the border between Jordan and Syria had been attacked by a drone.

Washington accused groups allied with Iran of being behind the attack and confirmed that it would respond, while Tehran denied responsibility and said that the "Islamic resistance" takes its decisions without referring to Tehran.
