Shafaq News / A popular demonstration was launched today, Monday, that brought together thousands of people in Akre District in Dohuk Governorate, and the areas close to it, where participants raised slogans denouncing the Iranian attack on the home of a businessman in the city of Erbil.

One of the demonstrators told Shafaq News Agency, "This bombing is a crime that targeted the people of the Kurdistan region," calling on the federal government and the coalition countries to "confront this hostile act and prevent its recurrence."

It is noteworthy that the Dohuk Governorate within the Kurdistan Region witnessed, last Thursday, a large demonstration that started in front of the Presidency of the University of Dohuk to Park Khani in the city center, and thousands of citizens participated in it, raising the slogan of denouncing and denouncing the Iranian missile bombardment on Erbil.

On Monday night into Tuesday of last week, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard launched a violent bombardment with ballistic missiles targeting civilian areas in the city of Erbil, which led to 10 civilians being killed or wounded.

The Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for the strikes that targeted Erbil, and said in a statement that they came “in response to the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic, the most recent of which was the killing of a number of Guard leaders by Zionist fire. A major spy headquarters for the Mossad in the Kurdistan region of Iraq was targeted and destroyed with ballistic missiles.” ".

Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji confirmed that Iran's claims of targeting a Mossad headquarters in Erbil Governorate are baseless, as he described them.

The Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Region, Reber Ahmed, and the National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, who heads a high-level security delegation, were briefed on the sites of the bombing launched by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on areas in the city of Erbil, which resulted in casualties and injuries among civilians.

At dawn today, the Kurdistan Region Security Council considered the missile bombardment launched by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which targeted civilian areas in the city of Erbil, a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty” of the region and all of Iraq.

The ministers of several countries also condemned the Iranian bombing that targeted civilian homes in the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, while the US National Security Advisor confirmed that he would discuss this targeting with President Joe Biden to take measures to maintain the security of the region.

Shafaq News / On Monday, the Kurdistan Regional Government responded to a statement by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the presence of “Israeli headquarters” in the city of Erbil, which was bombed with ballistic missiles.

The spokesman for the regional government, Peshwa Hawrami, said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, in an interview with reporters about the bombing of the city of Erbil, claimed the presence of Israeli headquarters in the city as a justification for the attack and that no, it is not a violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”

He added, "It is surprising that despite the visit of the delegation of the federal government, the House of Representatives, civil society organizations, and the media to the home of the victim, Bishro Dizayi, as everyone testified that the missile attack was a crime against civilians, Iranian officials still insist on their baseless allegations and are proud of the crime they committed." rights of citizens in the Kurdistan Region.”

Hawrami continued, "The Prophet's hadith (pride led him to sin) applies completely to Iranian officials, as they confirm their incorrect words, regardless of Iraqi, Iranian, regional, and international public opinion."

He considered that "what the Iranian Revolutionary Guard did was a crime against civilian citizens in the Kurdistan Region and a blatant violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the principles of neighborliness, and international norms and agreements."

He stressed that "this crime cannot be covered up with misleading news and fabricated images, and Iraqi, Iranian and regional public opinion cannot be deceived."

Hawrami concluded by saying, “The main question for the media at the present time is that Iran’s precision missiles reach many places and countries that Iran considers its enemy. Why do they only target innocent citizens in the Kurdistan Region, and do they not dare to target countries that possess advanced weapons and missiles and only dare to target innocent people?” Who do not have weapons?

Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said during a press conference, “Iran’s move in Erbil does not conflict with Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but rather was a punishment for the aggressors against Iran’s security.” Our commitment to Iraq’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity is a commitment. Completely installed and no verification required.

He pointed out that "Iran will not hesitate to defend its security," adding, "Iranian-Iraqi relations are strong and solid, and there is bilateral cooperation between the two countries at various levels."
