Four thousand "disabled" Israeli soldiers since the start of the war on Gaza

Shafaq News / The Hebrew “Walla” news website revealed that 4,000 Israeli soldiers have been disabled since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

The website stated that "Israel is preparing to receive a large number of its disabled soldiers," adding that 100 days after the war, it has already been recognized that about 4,000 soldiers have disabilities.

He pointed to estimates that this number would reach about 30,000.

In this context, the site considered that the Hamas attack on October 7 led Israel into a war that it had never witnessed before in terms of the number of wounded soldiers, but more importantly, the injuries were very serious.

“Thanks to the dedicated and high-quality care provided by rescue and medical teams, those seriously injured are surviving,” he said.

He added that the Israeli army "does not provide all the information about the wounded to the public, for fear that this will lead to a decline in people's morale."

He continued: "Currently, about 4,000 soldiers have been recognized as having a disability according to Classification 3. This means that they are entitled to all the treatments and rights enjoyed by a disabled person in the Israeli army without being officially recognized as such."

He pointed out that "the injured soldiers are paid salaries and are treated even without having to prove anything," indicating that their rehabilitation process "will begin as soon as possible to bring them back to life."

The website quoted Idan Kaliman, head of the Organization for the Disabled in the Israeli Army: “For every physical therapist we worked with, we now require four to meet the volume of wounded, and the same applies to all other therapeutic professions.”

He added: "We need to triple our strength at once for the benefit of our soldiers. I have been in the regime for 30 years. I have never encountered such a number of wounded and their condition is so serious."

Kaliman pointed out that there were "many wounded who had amputated limbs and who were blinded and paralyzed."

The Israeli army announced the recruitment of 360,000 reserve soldiers in the war against the Gaza Strip since October 7, while the ground operation began on the 27th of the same month.

As of yesterday, Friday, the number of officers and soldiers killed in the ranks of the Israeli army since the beginning of the war reached 520, including 186 since the beginning of the ground war in the Gaza Strip.

On the 99th day of the war in the Gaza Strip, military operations and clashes continue on various axes, while the attack on the Houthis in Yemen threatens to expand the circle of war in the region.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of victims and injured in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli bombing had risen to 23,708 dead and 60,005 injured since October 7 of last year.
