Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani directed, on Tuesday (January 9, 2024), the Central Bank and all banks to use the method of simple decreasing interest in citizens' loans.

A government source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the Sudanese directed the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Iraq and government and private banks to reconsider the calculation of interest paid on loans granted to citizens."

He added, "He also directed, using the method of simple decreasing interest instead of the cumulative method, which burdens the borrower with burdens on them."
