The statement indicated that the prime minister renewed during the meeting, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, the Kurdistan Regional Government's support for the initiative and message of the Kurdish leader, Massoud Barzani, for national reconciliation, stressing the solidarity and unity of the Kurdish parties to defend national interests.

 

He explained that the first part of the meeting was devoted to presenting the latest developments in the resumption of Kurdistan Region's oil exports within the framework of the agreement between the regional government and the federal government in 2023, which was presented by the Prime Minister.

The statement added that in another axis regarding security problems, the Council of Ministers decided to conduct joint investigations through a special committee of the concerned agencies regarding security files in general, away from political interference, and to take legal measures later.

 

And he indicated that the third and last paragraph of the meeting was the submission of a report by the Ministry of Interior regarding the response to the national assessment that was implemented by the federal government on the risks of (money laundering and terrorist financing in Iraq), which was presented by the Minister of Interior, Riber Ahmed.

 

He pointed out that the Council, in addition to its appreciation to the Ministry of Interior and the concerned authorities for the endeavors, procedures and steps that have been taken to confront the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing, and until the drafting of the new legal framework in the region in this regard, the Council instructed the relevant ministries and institutions to continue to coordinate and work jointly with the parallel institutions and agencies in the government.
