Mr. Al-Hakim: We express our deep surprise at the decision to transfer the Iraq match, and we call upon the Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to restore this right

{Political: Al Furat News} The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Al-Hakim, expressed his deep regret and astonishment for the decision issued by the International and Asian Football Associations to transfer the match of the national team and its Emirati brother on the land of Baghdad as a gesture to break the long-imposed ban.
In a statement, Al-Furat News Agency received a copy of it, Mr. Al-Hakim said, "The security pretext that the two unions focus on is not objective, given its residency in the capital, Baghdad, and many of our cities."

He called on "the Football Association, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to follow up on the issue, restore and establish this Iraqi right, and bring joy to our people and sports fans."

The UAE Football Association announced yesterday that the International Federation and its Asian counterpart decided to transfer the match between the two teams, Iraq and the UAE, on March 24, to a neutral ground.

. The International Federation "FIFA" had earlier announced the return of international matches to Iraqi stadiums, starting with hosting the UAE in the World Cup qualifiers. .

Then, it was officially announced that the match of the two teams would be held in the Al-Madina International Stadium in Baghdad, which can accommodate 30,000 spectators, and it was determined that they were allowed to attend this match, with only 22,000 spectators.

And the Iraqi Football Association revealed that "the reason for transferring the match is a result of the reports that reached FIFA regarding the recent events related to the missile attacks on the city of Erbil (northern Iraq)" at dawn last Sunday.

The president of the Federation, Adnan Darjal, said this evening, Wednesday, that FIFA's decision was a "shock. There are no convincing justifications for it."

He stressed that "Baghdad is currently in a stable security situation, and has hosted more than one sporting event recently, and its stadiums are ready to host matches according to the standards of FIFA and its committees, which praised what the Iraqi Football Association provided for the success of embracing the Iraq-UAE match."
