PKK denies sending its militants to fight alongside Armenia

The Iraqi political analyst pointed out that "the steps that the American forces will take do not violate international law after the Iraqi government's inability to protect the American embassy and the bases in which the international coalition forces are present."

Returning to the MEE website report, it indicated that the three Shiite factions are supported by Tehran, which is part of the Popular Mobilization Forces, which the government nominally controls.

The website quoted those it described as political leaders and leaders of armed groups that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo briefed Iraqi President Barham Salih about the targets that Washington plans to strike, during a phone call between the two sides last month.

The report says that Pompeo's threat raised a panic for supporters of Mustafa Al-Kazemi's government to the extent that they never imagined that Washington would abandon its ally so quickly.

The team supporting Al-Kazemi fears that the closure of the embassy will have catastrophic consequences, including the withdrawal of other diplomatic missions, the economic and political collapse, and the exacerbation of sectarian and ethnic divisions.
