President of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, the Kurdistan region has witnessed remarkable economic development compared with the past years, noting that the per capita income in Kurdistan amounted to five thousand dollars, as pointed out that the region is leading a more active role than some of Independent States. 
Barzani said during a meeting with religious scholars in Erbil, said that "the Kurdistan region's economy has witnessed a remarkable development, compared with past years," noting that "the per capita income in 2003 was $ 275, but it now stands at five thousand dollars." 
Barzani added that "the poverty rate in the region has become 4%," pointing out that "the illiteracy rate recorded less than 16%." 
Barzani stressed that "the Kurdistan region over the past years managed to find his impressive diplomatic position in the region and the world," adding that "now plays more effective than some of Independent States." 
The opposition accuses the Kurdish and continuously, parties in power of corruption, mismanagement and lack of transparency, as well as the use of public resources to serve the interests of the party. 
And witnessing the Kurdistan region of a propaganda campaign are great for elections Kurdistan Regional Parliament, where a competition between the main parties KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Movement for Change and the Kurdistan Islamic Union and the Islamic Group to acquire the votes of the electorate, during elections the regional parliament, which is scheduled to take place on 21 September said.
