  1. Dinar sellers still can't seem to get their hands on the 10k ,5k  notes on down that are uncirculated . I check this almost daily and even call .No response . Some sites still display the 50 which was withdrawn 2 years ago . These big denoms just don't jive with other international currencies . The 50s may have been withdrawn to be reprinted in polymer so they can work in atm's . In my mind this points to an inevitable rv . I would welcome any info that proves me wrong about what uncirculated notes are available .

I believe this quote makes it about as bottom line as I can find...but remember, in this case the jury is still out and you will need to talk to a good CPA or Tax Attorney (which - being a VIP - I will surely get a list of from Mr. Montana once this pops...)

"Foreign currency exchanges are either dealt with under Section 1256 or under Section 988 of the Internal Revenue Code. Section 1256 is set up for gains on contracts (futures & forward contracts) made by investors in widely traded currency. Since this is not a widely traded currency and since it is not under contract, Section 1256 does not apply.

The IRS Publication 525 that you referenced mentions a "Personal Transaction" above $200. (By the way it is on page 33, not page 30) This language comes directly out of Section 988. However, what you are doing is not a personal transaction. Personal transaction as contemplated in Section 988 specifically excludes anything done for the purpose of producing income (referenced under section 212). A "Personal Transaction" is one where you exchange money for your trip to Belgium and when you get back you exchange it back. Everyone on this board is holding currency for the purpose of producing income. That is not a "Personal Transaction" but is an income producing investment transaction. Therefore, it falls under the rules of Section 988 and is Ordinary Income."

As a Platinum member for many years (as well as my wife), I believe it is money well spent. First, the ground work has been laid and the effort made to help us protect our investment and save on taxes when this thing finally pops. I believe there is much more to come after the RV that will really make you think the initial investment in VIP was a "no brainer". To me, it is worth the money because every dime of tax I save and put in MY pocket, keeps it from going to our unethical, immoral, criminal government, who are just gonna squander it anyway. I will put that money to much better causes then they EVER could. JMUO.

What tax ? Sorry to change the subject slightly , but many have been wondering what kind of tax we may be subject to . As far as I know ,there is nothing in the tax code presently that addresses tax on profits of currency exchange ,and tax can't be retro active . Is it somewhere in the new tax code ?

  4.  Now the CBI website appears to be  messing with my head  .When you go to the scroll  at the top of the page and click on work shops pertaining to the buying and selling of foreign currency , you read such a gobble d goup of crap like you've never heard . Sincerely , from Dinarham , purveyor of weird information

I am not following ? I hit the English translate button and everything seems to translate ?

I went down the  rabbit hole  of the cbi website posted above  and found something I had never seen before concerning damaged bank notes , written In perfect english . One point covered  " burnt or BURIED  notes . Ha !

  6. It's been over two weeks and still no uncirculated  10k on down is available for purchase . However one site did have the circulated notes for sale even though I kept pressing the "uncirculated " button . So far I haven't received any call backs from other dealers about my request for uncirculated notes  even though my purchase price was way high ,and you would think they would jump on that . Go figure .

  7.  This news could not be better . It would be  impossible to accomplish  as the dinar stands . I laugh at the physical logistics as I explore them mentally ,then my head starts to spin.  So 317 billion { dinar or US $ ? } equals 12%  ,so  roughly 88%  would come out to over 2 trilion . With 33 million iraqi citizens ,that's not bad . The percentage may have been based on population  ,fair and square  .

  8.  Synopsis , clicked on that link and Boom , plain as day there it was . I also clicked on Iraqi News  and there it is ,currency auction on their front page . I always go to the cbi website right below the sponsored line and written in Arabic  . With two official websites  it is confusing for some folks .  I clicked  every button option on their web page  and could find nothing concerning recent auctions .  I sense a deliberate  effort on the part of the cbi  to confuse rather than straight out lie  .I have learned the hard way  that this behavioral dynamic transcends  from individuals to entire nations . It;s true  !

I am not sure who is trolling You, Dinarham, since this is a valid thing to watch. Here are the results from today that are the same from last Thursday:

Foreign Currency Selling Window for 31-12-2017 that performed on 28-12-2017

    Announcement No.(3602)

Sale Date - 31/12/2017 that performed on 28/12/2017

Total sale for the purpose of strengthen outside assets (Transfers and credits)
    129,030,013

    Total sale cash

    51,550,000
    Total sale amount

    180,580,013

    Note:

    • Selling price of remittance money to bank accounts outside is (1190) ID for each Dollar.
    • Cash selling price is (1190) ID for each Dollar.

Here is a list of the previous auctions for December 2017:

    https://cbi.iq/currency_auction/all

The only two that are odd for December is the December 11 currency auction that occurred on the same day and there was not a currency auction on Sunday, Decemeber 31 for Monday, January 1. For the past several months to over a year or so, the currency auctions for a particular day are for the next business day. Since the business week is from Sunday through Thursday, the Thursday currency auction would happen for the following Sunday.

For this past missing currency auction for Sunday, December 31, 2017 and Monday, January 2018, it may be because of year end so tomorrow may be an indicative day of good things to come for the stopping of the currency auctions.

    Sure is Lookin' Good, Though!!!

What is going on with the currency auctions? There appears  a completely new format selling bonds to foreign countries . I don't understand it ,but it indicates that 3/13/18 was the last update

The Best Of Your Weekend To You, Dinarham!!! :tiphat:

I am trying to understand Your question. I posted the link, did that work for You? Alternately, You can go to:

    www.cbi.iq

Then, if You scroll down to the four horizontal pictorial icons right above the Exchange Rates and click on the second from the left (Foreign Currency Sell Window) You should get to the same place.

Right under the last listed currency auction results, there is a button labeled:

Click here to view the previous auctions

where You can go to get other previous currency auctions.

    Hope This Helps.

  9.   I love to think about the IQD and ATM's .  the physical  limitations  of atm's as  this currency stands  would have to be HUGE . Take a wheel barrel with you {cost $25k US ]  because you will need  it .  Hopefully you have a family member or friend who will loan you a wheel barrel because you will need a wheel barrel of dinar to buy a wheel barrel  . You may  extrapilate this on down because it is ridiculous and unsustainable .  No wonder the 50 note dinar withdrew from circulation .For one thing , they were completely worthless  , but now they are being reprinted polymer to fit into the atms .  For almost two weeks now I have reported  that there are no uncirculated 10k,5k on down available to buy .I can imagine that the cbi is sucking in the circulated 10k ,5k as best they can ., because they still hold their value , but they don't jive with most int'l  banking .  You can buy 25k uncirculated  . Apart from that , I believe the rate will be higher than Kuwait Any $5.26 folks out there ?
