I drive a 29 year old Mercedes 300SD with 291K+ miles on it. It has been long paid for, and I will continue to drive it until my son-in-law inherits it many years from now.... I will NOT be buying a new car!
I was considering the option of giving the dinars directly myself. Sounds like it would be a viable way to get the most money to where it needs to be to do the work! I have pastor friends in Jamaica and Guyana that I want to give to also. Wonder if the strategy of directly donating dinars would work for them too?? Don't know what the tax structure is like for charities in those countries...
Very well said. I have experienced some of the same eye-opening revelations about my own motivations... I have plans for extensive giving, but my own selfishness continually tries to rear its ugly head...
Steve - I have really enjoyed your thoughtful analysis of the situation. Have read through the posts a number of times, and continue to learn. Will you be posting the balance of you 'book' shortly?
