  1. Qwerty, your arguement goes both ways, How can they Devalue a currency overnight to be worth nothing and what happens to contracts and the Iraqi people? Just as it Devalues overnight it can Revalue overnight. It is that simple.
  2. This is the only link that I can find at this moment on Jeffrey. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110203/pl_afp/usiraqunrestpoliticssecurity and it is dated Feb 3rd. Edit: Does not mention Dinar once. Sounds like someone altered this article somewhat. Same story Headline with some additions not mentioned in the story. PUMPERS SUCK
  3. That's what I'm talking about. Great find. More than I have heard about any kind of revalue in awhile. Look at that it came from a U.S. official and not shabs, interesting.
  4. Just a thought..............Was reading an article http://www.aknews.com/en/aknews/4/216576/ of how Iran is pressuring Iraq to cancel the deal for the 18 fighter jets. Pressure from Iran and Iraq officials unable to comment on the story. What if?????????????? The jets are just a "Hey sorry we lost your money, but we got these" Interesting I think to say the least.
  5. This is one small paragraph from this sites info on the IQD. The Iraqi dinar was worth $US3.20 before the United Nations embargo that followed Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait. By August 2002 it was trading at just below 2000 to the US dollar, and by mid-April 2003 it had slipped to anywhere between 3500 and 4000 against the dollar. In July 2003 one US dollar equaled about 1,500 Iraqi dinars. Nearly all the bank notes issued after the 1991 Gulf War were without watermark or metal line due to technical difficulties, which is why so many forgeries took place. The U.N. placed sanctions we all know that, World leaders and officials were also involved in D.V. Great article, lots of info. A good 10 minute read though. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/iraq/currency-reform.htm
  6. Your funny, it wont R.V. when they are filled. Iraq alone is not the only Government involved in the value of their currency. Ask yourselves this..........Who was responsible for the de-value of their currency? Well I hate to tell you but the same will also be involved in the Re-value. Getting positions filled are important, it alows the process of an R. V. to begin.
  7. If this was a real issue I assure you it was discussed while Jefferys was with the Minister of Finance the other day.
  8. I could not have said it better and I tried in my last post. Well done, well said. Enjoy life. Hope everything works out for you and yours where you are.
  9. I only hope we can all remember that even though we have not seen the R.V. as we would like to yet. We sleep in warm beds, eat whenever we want, enjoy the wonderful freedom that is available, be able to leave the computer screen and play golf or whatever takes your mind of of your daily trouble. While all the while the simple life in Iraq is mostly miserable. I would love to see the dinar R.V. who wouldn't? My life is really good now. I have a wonderful wife and a beautiful daughter and a couple of people that I can truly call my friend. Don't forget that even though lots of money may solve some problems in your life, the very best things don't require an R.V. There is more going on over there than just currency. They have a lot on their plate. It is not up to Maliki or Shabibi or the C.B.I. when this happens. It is going to be up to World leaders and the co-operation of those mentioned. I try to keep everything in perspective. Truthfully, if you don't know how to manage $10.00 an R.V. is going to be the worst thing that will happen to many people reading this right now. Slam if you must but this R.V. wont be the answer for everyone. With that being said I hope anyone reading this hears my heart. With all humility and responsibility..............................Go R.V.
  10. This was posted earlier but the article was not that good. This covers it much more. 2/7/2011 1:16 PM BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The demonstrations that took place in Baghdad and other Iraqi provinces, protesting against a decline of services and unemployment, have been the main issue in Monday's Baghdad newspapers. "Poor services are the main problems for Iraqi citizens. The Service Ministries announced huge figures for the service industry, yet Iraqi citizens have not seen any results, which in turn is causing despair," said al-Adala (Justice) newspaper, issued by the Supreme Islamic Council's leader, Adel Abdul-Mahdi. "It is not unusual for such demonstrations to take place against bad services, though the demonstrations that took place in Iraq cannot be compared with those that took place in Tunisia and Egypt as their targets are different. Tunisia and Egypt have demanded radical political reforms, such as rewriting their constitutions, a transition towards democracy, the holding of new elections, etc., whilst Iraq has already surpassed all those demands," it said. Peaceful demonstrations took place in west Iraq's Ramadi city, demanding the government to achieve services and put an end to unemployment and administrative corruption, whilst others demanded the release of political prisoners in another demonstration in Baghdad. Thousands took to the streets in southern Iraq's Diwaniya city, demanding services and jobs. In another article, Al-Ittihad (Union), an organ of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), led by Iraq's President, Jalal Talabani, said, "Accusations among different political parties are back to express Iraqis' dissatisfaction in a possibility of finding solutions for their daily sufferings, which has become a very difficult issue." "Stop playing with words, because the people have understood what is taking place, calling for solutions before it's too late. What has taken place in Baghdad and other provinces are messages from the people, who are asking about the fate of billions of dinars that were supposed to be allocated to services, but in vain," the newspaper said. "Different government parties have began to feel the seriousness of the people's anger, that cannot be described because of intensive violations, especially in the security field," the newspaper added. SKH (TI)/SR http://en.aswataliraq.info/Default1.aspx?page=article_page&id=140871&l=1 This really is the biggest news of the day IMO. It is this kind of action that will cause a reaction. Lets just hope the reaction is good for all of us.

    no budget

In What? Let me say this for now, there is a time for everything under the sun. It is a loaded question, I will say that. Let me tell you this, It isn't Iraq.
  12. bagdaddy, Hate to tell you this, but the C.B.I. does not even know the date. The R.V. of Iraq will involve people like Jeffreys(who byw was just in Iraq) and lots of other leaders who are as important or even more important that Maliki, or Shabibi, or even the Minister of Finance. I would like to post an article that shows this, no article available. People behind the scenes, World Leaders you really don't hear about. All of them are somewhat Involved. For Example this site: http://www.mof.gov.iq/ar/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1065 His Excellency the Minister of Finance Dr. Rafie al-Issawi, U.S. ambassador in Iraq, James Jeffrey and the two sides discussed a number of issues on the political and economic development of the country. Issawi discussed with the U.S. ambassador to the subject of the general budget and the reason for the delay in the approval, also addressed the meeting, delayed naming ministers of security and the problems faced by naming the characters, which will occupy the ministries of defense, interior and ways of solving those problems, and the two sides stressed the need to speed up the resolution of these important issues . Ask yourselves, why would The MoF have to answer to us? Or France? or every other country coming in to ask him " What is going on? Lets get this moving!" Just saying
  13. tjmunson, great post. Someone who gets it. I am not a currency and foreign investment expert but 2 of my close friends are. We will never hear all the news. I hope you all keep that in mind. We don't hear all the news about our own Country and it's assets and debt. I hope nobody here in naive enough to think that they (the Government) tell us everything. More to this than we or any expert will ever know. +1 tj btw.

    no budget

Here is another one "No budget, No R.V."..............BS. I will bet a million dinar that when the budget passes all it's readings you will still NOT hear anything about an R.V. for a while after. They could R.V. today if the wanted to. The budget is only an outline to TRY to follow. It is not that big of a puzzle piece. It is a great start, not the answer to an R.V. unfortunately. The R.V. will have to do with : basket rates, IMF, World Bank, U.S.A. , China, Russia, and a bunch of other Big Wigs in a secret meeting in the middle of BFE. Your R.V. is waiting on a lot more than the Iraqi people and their Government. Let me ask everyone a question : "Who do you think owns the Central Bank of Iraq?" It is not who you may think.
  15. First I can't find a link or news article on Shabibi or c.b.i. anywhere that is recent. After translating the translation, basically The control of the bank is being questioned. Maliki is questioning the Constitution and what it means and trying to control C.B.I. more or less himself. That's not so good, can you say dictator? Shabibi is right. According to the constitutional article (103) First: Each of the CBI, the Financial Inspection Office, and the media and communications and Endowment bodies financially and administratively independent, and the law regulates the work of each of them. Second: The Central Bank of Iraq responsible before the Council of Representatives and the Office of Financial Supervision Authority Media and Communications House of Representatives. You need to read article 103 to understand it more. (Google Iraqi Constitution) The part that jumped off of the article to me was here He added that “the process of linking the Central Bank of the government administratively or financially Vstjolh prejudice his plans Balhvatz cash on the exchange rates of the Iraqi dinar.”He Shabibi that “Alozvip core of the Central Bank is to maintain the level of the Iraqi dinar exchange and prevent the phenomenon of inflation in the Nile of the Iraqi economy.” This is mostly old news that has been posted already in the news section days ago. Not to threatening, nothing I would worry about.
  16. Not for nothing, but this same news has been posted 4 times now. Thanks though.
  17. Those are nice too, but I think you know what I meant. Not saying everyone feels that way, but too many do. Look at the negative posts above. Newbies that have been here for 2 weeks. Take the negative comments from the source that they are coming from, they IMO "Don't have a clue". I'm just saying.
  18. Please, someone reading this tell me what you expect the budget to do? I have heard here several times "No budget, No R.V." I think everyone expects to see an R.V. when it gets passed. Not the job of a budget. Anyone out there in business that does a budget every year? I do one, it never changed the value of the money I expect to come in or what I budget to do with it. Does not change the fact I may end the year in the RED (bad budget) or if I end the year in the BLACK (good budget)
  19. 07/02/2011 : History Parliament postponed the second reading of the budget bill to the next Sunday Alsumaria News Voice of the Iraqi parliament on Monday to postpone the second reading of the draft federal budget law for the current year to the next meeting next Sunday, for the non-arrival of law after the amendments by the government, while the source confirmed that the Council added to today's meeting to discuss the ration card and the high grain prices. And got "Alsumaria News" middle of last month, the amended version of the draft General Budget Law of the Federal Republic of Iraq for the Financial Year 2011, as amended, after the addition of the final cost of speculative to host the Arab summit conference in Baghdad.
  20. The budget is approved, also accepted by the kurds. You will not see anything about an R.V. in the budget. It will be passed by parliament. I really don't think most of you realize the budget is only a guideline. If you are waiting for parliament to approve it and expect to see an R.V. you will be disappointed again. Some people here can't just accept slow progress because your in a big hurry to buy a porsche. I suggest you do your own research, find your own news and stop slamming people here that take the time to search and post good information that is found. Every single news agency out there confirms the passing of the budget. Now un-wad your panties and take some good solid progress have a cup of coffee and for Gods sake smile. Edit: http://www.inciraq.com/pages/view_page.php?id=49469 Don't worry, parliment will pass it. You will not see the R.V. then either. So don't be mad when you don't.
  21. I believe that this will be a very busy week in the news for the Economy of Iraq. Parliament will pass the budget, does anyone really think that they wont? Can you say Riot? The budget is done. Now they can start to move. Watch this week lots of news coming. I can just feel it. JMHO
  22. No Risk. No risk. Not high risk. Sell what you have to me. Now your risk is nothing, I'll buy it.
  23. Do you know what a No Risk investment is? If you don't, let me be the first to tell you your in one. If you want to you can sell what you bought and get 100% of your money back. I really like No Risk investments, they don't come around that often.
  24. No telling, but my thoughts are Iraqi dinar 20 years ago was valued pretty high. Inflation, more Oil wells, more contracts and a Government trying to play nice with the world. Could be really good.
