This is one of my big "soap box" topics. Although I totally agree that we should be good stewards of the earth...who wants to breathe dirty air, drink dirty water, live in garbage, etc. And it would be great to use renewable energy such as wind, hydro, solar, etc. Personally, I like the Back to the Future solution where we use garbage as fuel...solve 2 problems at one time! From a technology perspective, we are no where near where we need to be...too expensive, not enough capacity produced, the carbon emissions from the actual manufacturing of the technology, killing of too many birds if wind was used wide-scaled, etc.
BUT, no one unbiased has proved anything about "climate change" (who hasn't wanted to profit)...which used to be "global warming"...and back in the 70's they were predicting a future ice-age. The earth does not orbit the sun in the same pattern from year to year, decade to decade, or even century to century...how much of "climate change" is attributed to this process? How much of the issue is carbon emissions vs clearing out the trees in the rain forest (or elsewhere)? How much of the issue is attributed to varying levels of volcanic activity? How much of the issue is due to solar activity? Ice may be melting in the North, but gaining in the South...maybe the earth's tilt is changing? If you believe in Evolution (I certainly do not), how can one explain the original Ice Age? It certainly wasn't humans...was it animal farts? If the earth was "still evolving" at that point in time and that was the "reason" for the Ice Age, are we not still evolving now? (Evolution...yet another big soap box of mine).
No one can agree on this just like they can't agree if coffee, wine, chocolate, salt is good or bad for you.
I'm making a list of questions to ask God when I see Him...I'll put this one on the list!
