  1. Maliki's latest quoted statements eseentially saying its either his appointees or none at all don't support the RV date predictions in this Buckeye thread. Of course this could be political manuevering as well in the Iraqi press. So far out of probably hundreds of RV date predictions zero have come true. However, I believe someone from the GET team gets it right one day as they throw out RV dates about every other day now.
  2. Being an owner of hotels this one is easy. There is no way any hotel will be able to charge $100 in a presumably rural town of Pumphandle North Dakota. I doubt the even get that rate in the Capital of North Dakota.
  3. I believe if a banknote was going away the IMF requires 4 months minimum. IMO Iraq needs to instill confidence in their currency worldwide so declaring large notes to not be legal tender would not be wise.
  4. These news stories are important but they can also be misleading or put out to make a point to rival parties. We need to look at what they do vs what they say sometimes. The Kurds are in the catbird seat with regard to the budget right now and probably want to get finalization on their demands as well as making sure the budget is correct. That group is pretty darn sharp.
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only issue on this list that may be related to getting us one step closer to the RV is the Budget amendment. We also need an amendment to the constitution that would make the Supreme Court decision about Maliki having control over the CBI null and void. We need security ministers for defense and interior approved (for government finalization). We probably need the HCL law approved. Certainly not trying to be a downer but just realistic. Let us hope we get these things done next week. Thank you for the most excellent post!
  6. I think his source may come from reading the Rumors and the Opinions section of various dinar websites. He should just read this one though. More facts, less hype, rumors that are qualified and reasonably well thought out opinions and analysis. Ok, nuff said.
  7. Interesting call for sure. As for their expectation that they will see an immediate RV, it is apparent this group discounts the need for a completed government or an approved budget. Though I was intrigued by the call I cannot reconcile the need for these two things to happen.
  8. Can't see a Monday. If you were logical (course this is Iraq) you'd do it on a Thursday evening. Retailers would need as much time as possible to change their pricing. It would be both a computerization and/or manual task.
  9. The thing about this rumor that got my attention was that names were named. A quick google and you can pick up aides of Orrin hatch. Didn't see any named Marcus but found a BYU law school guy named Marcus that had interned or was interning for him. The other thing was the guy that posted this had been a member of the site since 2006. So he hadn't been kicked off for crazy statements unlike some unnamed but entertaining characters on other sites! Anyway, I thought it warranted a mention in rumors.
  10. On the thread he was called on that so good catch. He said he misspoke b/c he got the info from his brother. I did a quick check of his most recent posts. It didn't look like he was a b/s'er but who the heck knows. A senators name was mentioned so I thought it would be of interest. Orrin hatch sits on the Finance Committee and the Taxation Committee. If you're going to name a Senator he'd be a legit guy to throw out there. It's pretty sad...now I'm admiring rumor content. But hey, its been a slow rumor day.
  11. Saw this on another site and I thought it was specific enough to warrant a post (and we haven't gotten a good Okie post today so what the heck)... I heard a rumor today, from my brother. His brother-in-law is Orin Hatch's (Utah senator) aid. Orin told marcus to buy Iraqi Dinar quick. The dinar will be going up sometime within the week! With an amount upwards of $2.00. Take It for what it's worth, a rumor!!
  12. Legolas, you need to stay on here. I believe your background is valuable your thoughts could be on the money. I do not think that the Iraq needs to pump as I would imagine there are some dinar dealers that take carte of that for them. I think we will know shortly whether this complicated "deal" will come together or not. I got into this about two and a half months ago. It's a lot of mental gymnastics to disern what might be well meaning "intel" (which might actually be information that fits into a multifaceted puzzle) from pumper posts. Being naturally skeptical, I have learned to read factual information and use that as my basis of trying to assess where we are in this this speculative investment. However, some of this "intel" might actually give us some clues as well. I know one thing, we will probably know once the government is formed whether this will happen or not. To me its all news driven now and not "intel" driven. Take a break from it and come back some time soon.
  13. Next Thursday means tomorrow. They also may be able to get out of Ch. 7 fully tomorrow. More progress.
  14. Hey Nitro....like you say, put it under rumors. Here's a tip on how not to get trashed. When you say "just received long email" insert somehting like "from a good friend who works at a very well known bank in the "X" department in New York". That way its a heck of a lot more plausible and people will appreciate your sharing. Hey no charge for that advice!
  15. Was your text from someone in Iraq (ie. firsthand information) or was it from a firend of a friend of a friend? Also, when did you get the text? Thanks
  16. In the latest Marc Faber report, he is hugely bullish on the Iraqi Stock Market. Says it's way under valued and it's the best way to play the long side because you get a currency kicker as well.I hope he is understating "kicker".
  17. The currency guy works for the largest privately held company in the US. He works with a decent size currency group out of Geneva. The company trades all commodities, all over the globe. Though I don't know this guy directly, the company is known for hiring good people.
  18. I just bought some dinar a couple of weeks ago as a speculative investment. As a disclaimer i haven't spent all kinds of time reading old posts as it would be a full time job so this issue may have been brought up before. I had my best friend who is the head oil trader at a huge privately held international co., speak to a currency trader buddy in Switzerland yesterday about whether he had invested in the IQD. He admitted he hadn't even heard of the theory of the revaluation of the IQD. After some basic research he was dubious that such a thing would take place. It didn't discourage me though as i look at this as very speculative and warranting more than basic research. One point he did make was that given the endemic corruption in Iraq, he felt an imminent RV would be telegraphed well ahead by black market money changers on the street in advance. An interesting point and I am wondering if this topic has been discussed before. I'd certainly appreciate anyones thoughts on that. As an aside, I was kind of shocked that any professional currency trader doesn't know of the IQD RV speculative play.
