  1. For a teller to say that, is taking quite a chance with her job! I would've grilled her for more information... or asked for the bank manager to confirm/clarify the teller's statement as a professional. If they could not do that with reasonable customer courtesy... her statement should be considered irresponsible and negligent. I mean, why accept these simple statements and answers?
  2. MinnRanger... It makes no sense to bother banks right now with exchanging... because they cannot predict the future. They don't know anything and will not know anything until the RV event.... that's why they look at you funny. You know more than they do! They are businesses and deal with products that they can market now... dinar is not one of them yet. Some have sold/exchanged dinars at the current rate... others have not... it's a corporate decision. It's simple... banks do not care about dinars until they want to... or have to. So, you just have to wait for the event... and then all the banks will be willing to help you... and won't be looking at you funny.
  3. It shouldn't... Sonny1 left no ambiguity in his statement that it will RV within 3 weeks... it was an absolute statement of 100% conviction... therefor it must occur.
  4. Hi Dman, seems we're close in our thinking... Please understand, I'm speaking more generally, and I believe you're speaking to the actions here at DV specifically, which I will not address in respect for Adam. But, I will simply say that we members will never know the true dynamics of what occured... and that was my general point about two sides to every issue. Sometimes the "behavior in leaving" is as legitimate as the "reasons for the difference" ... perhaps simply to provite clarity, truth... protection of honor, dignity and reputation... the list goes on. Perhaps there could be legal issues to defend. And again, it all depends on the dynamics of each individual situation. Now, concerning your doubt that former employees would come into a business to solicit customers (or other employees), it does occur. And depending on the type of business, it's easily done... via the openesss of retail... or via phone calls and emails... even outright strikes to create awareness. Ex-employees may even feel it's their duty to "warn" or to "inform" about bad practices... giving others the opportunity to find out for themselves in the free market. The implied expectation in a contract works two ways... a breach may occur from either side. Unfortunately, sometimes the best intentions and ethics gets tossed aside as the waters get muddied. So, as I stated... I will not address what happened at DV, as I don't pretend to know all the details and really don't care to know. It could be argued and debated til the cows come home... that's why I'm speaking generally. I hope yo understand. I'm just here to be civil and enjoy the process of our investment. Great discussion though... thanks!
  5. I'm familiar with the entire story as well. I'm also a businessman, selling goods and services. You've got it right to a certain extent, but "competitors" use these tactics everyday in the business world... overtly through advertising and marketing... but also through recruiting techniques, price slashing, price matching and so forth. The free market is what determines what someone will buy or where they'll go. Employees have left me to start their own business... these things happen everyday... and it is fine. And yes, you have to be diligent and aware of them in order to protect your customers... but that's business... Sometimes brand loyalty could also be blind loyalty. I understand the ethics argument... but, there are two sides to each story... the owner's, and the "employee's"... and depending upon the "contract"... a difference is not necessarily a breach. Again, these things happen everyday... they usually shake out best for the customer in the end. I just try to remain objective in my approach to these things. Hope it helps!
  6. You seem to skirt people's legitimate concerns and questions... perhaps because you can't answer them. That's fine, but just say so... instead of being the guy that just wants to say "I told you so!" Personally, I find it rather condescending for you to tell any of us "you know better"... because you work at a bank. If I listened to all the "experts" over my years... I would have missed out on many opportunities. I prefer to make my own decisions, like most here. So, respectfully, thank you for your "warning" as I will call it... and hope you will find other places than here to provide your advice...
  7. Seth, let me help clarify... beyond mentioning other sites... the site you mentioned is a very current source of irratibility here because of a major event that occured a couple of weeks ago. Normally, just asking a question as you did in chat wouldn't have kicked you or banned you. Some time needs to go by... and all will get better. I'm sure you'll be allowed back in chat. Let the mods adjust a bit, and they'll see you weren't a troublemaker, I'm sure.
  8. But, you don't know what will happen. That is what is annoying. And if you do know for sure that it will never RV/RI, please post your proof for all to see, so that you will save us from ourselves. You speak with arrogance and in absolute terms... that in itself is dishonest. Provide more evidence...
  9. I agree... and if anyone has read my posts, I've stated often my belief in letting the "free-market of opinion, thought and ideas" determine the outcome of a disagreement or debate... no censorship. However... I also adhere to this: "Just because you can... doesn't mean you should!" I wish some posters would think twice about what and how they say something. Free speech doesn't give you permission to yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater!
  10. Chis... please re-read, I was not referring to you... I was referring to the original poster and letting you know my thoughts about it, since you replied to me. I have absolutely no probem with you... we're fine... I hope!
  11. Hey Chris... no disrespect taken... though not sure why you're addressing my response. I will always be hard on those who stick their nose in my business intrusively. I simply asked legitimate questions back to the OP. I'm a grownup and really don't like sneaky posters who have absolutely no vested interest in our speculation... other than to instigate. I don't find any value in that as legitimate info... it really is just annoying... especially since he does not know what will happen, like the rest of the world. Chris, the only scam would simply involve the hype of an RV... not the actual ability to purchase/exchange it. He stated that he feels the "RV potential" is a scam.... he has no way of knowing that.
  12. Soooooo... you logged on, created an account... just to save us from ourselves? C'mon! Now, you say these "websites" are charging 50% spread... do you mean online dealers? What about the legitimate banks that exchange dinar.... are you criticizing them as well?
  13. So... you're warning us to be watchful for people like you... gee, thanks for the test dad! Don't know what I would do without your wisdom. And now you start another thread.... please lock this away!!!
  14. Sandi, you and your husband sound like genuinely mature, reasonable people. Remove yourselves from the emotional aspect of this, lower your expectations and go about your lives. Then, when it happens... your dreams will take shape. It is heartbreaking to see people putting themselves in unhealthy situations. Yours is but one story of many... stay well and best of luck to you and all.
  15. Probably the other... Scootter (two t's).... the real Scooter is gone from here and will not be back.
  16. There's a forum dedicated to LOP Talk... I think these discussions should be in there. Just a thought
  17. There's a forum dedicated to LOP Talk... I think these discussions should be in there. Just a thought
  18. I agree... and yes, it may sound harsh... but it's more like "tough love". Same goes for in Chat.... many jump on and want to be spoon fed, while the rest of us do some quick reading and homework. So, please with all due respect to... This is a "No Spoon Zone"
  19. With all due respect, in regard to the rants against religious postings... and personal "agendas", I might offer this... As much as I am not religious on a daily basis... many are, as it is part of their "fabric", their daily lives, their very nature in life. Religion to them is their guide, hence their faith.... as much as objective reasoning may be to me, or perhaps you. You cannot separate them from it... nor should you, as it delivers them comfort. That would be like a cruel unnecessary amputation. I'm not all for hearing it constantly, either.... but I will not take it away from them. It is not mine to take, nor deny them of it. Actually, I'm happy for them that they find the comfort they need in their faith. I learned this, stubbornly... that it's not about me... it's about their rights and their comfort in expression. Therefore, I don't mind it as much as I used to... my lesson learned in diplomacy and peace.
  20. Many here will "friend" you if they like the tone or substance of your postings. It's actually a compliment You can remove them if you want to. Also, in your profile settings there is an option to choose as to whether you want to allow someone to "friend" you with/without your permission. Check through it all.... you'll figure it out. Good luck.
  21. We will all get scrutinized in any exchange, especially at a high rate. There will be no avoiding that. Perhaps exchange a little at first to get some operating capital, pay off some bills. But at the current value, if you have no receipts... it's really no big deal, right? Why not get your dinars verified now with a bank... to start a paper trail... create new current receipts. Wouldn't that practically be the same thing as doing a 1:1 exchange of your current dinar holdings? Might take some doing... but might be worth it. Kind of like taking our US Dollars to a bank and exchanging them for different ones. I know it's a reach... but, just a thought.
  22. I tend to agree... this is really just a currency exchange. If the purchase (exchange) we made to obtain dinars is not classified as an investment now (as stated on my bank receipts)... again it is just an exchange at the current rate. It just happens to "become an investment" due to the RV we all hope for. Of course... the government may try to circumvent that with new laws, but I'm not necessarily seeing that here.
  23. Ummmm.... what the heck is a vucumn?
  24. Aya... I know you've followed most of my posts, as I have yours... and you should recognize the common theme within mine about posts needing to be more substantive and comprehensive... rather than short, sarcastic, snide remarks. That's not defending yourselves. You have done both... and I've only asked for you to be more substantive. And you have provided some, thank you. But most of these "defensive" retorts are not poductive, nor are they respectfully or proudly defending any "point-of-view"... they are simply sophomoric and rude... hense antagonistic. It's as simple as that, and that cannot be defended honestly. Do both "sides" do this... yes. But, I don't... and I never will. If I can't take the time to provide a thought-out reasoned response, I won't post. That's all I've been wanting from all... So... defend yourselves with pride and honor... and I would hope ANY discussion would then be less contentious... and more productive.
  25. A nice outlook debra! I think your defense is actually more in line with the defense of all. Our respective opposing responses should be driven by our objective philosophical outlooks, not so much as by "knee-jerk" emotional reactions. So... as I've stated before, the substance of what is posted should be scrutinized first... then the motive. Motives can then much more easily be revealed... and as such, stand by themselves as to what value they hold to each of us... I trust in that enlightenment becomes self-evident. I want to see the true substance revealed... theoretical, or not. If I'm labeled a Conservative... I live with that label, proudly. I would expect the same with a Liberal's self-esteem. Wear it proudly... defend it with substantive objectivity... and engage in simple, productive expression or debate. Simple as that.
