  1. Krome... it would be interesting to see the popular vote dispersals. I know there is now at least a county by county breakdown, and you can absolutely see the trending in votes. Here in NJ, the popular vote has always been Republican... but the state usually goes to the Democrats because of the large urban areas that affect districting. Remember NY gets the reputation of a Democrat state mostly because of the metropolitan area... which of course has a huge population, but it's a huge state. I believe the Popular Vote would be surprising. Not sure about California though. But the true battleground states in the Electoral College votes have been Ohio and Florida. I enjoy your posts... keep em coming
  2. Regardless of whether you register for a particular party or not, your vote is still effective one way or another. For those that believe otherwise, and don't vote... I'm actually relieved by that. Votes cancel out other votes in several ways, especially in the Electoral College method, in that one vote may cancel out thousands. Most voters are affiliated with a party along their lines of thinking... that makes sense to most who have clarity in their values, vision and belief system. For those that don't and are constantly on the fence, or simply confused or more "grey" about their convictions... that's fine too... they don't have to register with an affiliation. They, are also comprising the growing Independent registry... All this is fine and fair. But, the action of voting is still the paramount expression of our democracy, and is therefore essential and necessary. I'm not a fan of The Electoral College, but I do understand it as perhaps a necessary evil to help level the different values differentiating urban and rural America. This is why the census affects the districting, and hence sometimes re-districting for politcal purposes. Someday, in the far future when the population lines are not so distinct... the Popular Vote would be the true determining method. I say... do it now!!! LOL
  3. The Bush election was a close race decided by "individual" votes that needed to be clarified by the Supreme Court, to decide the Electoral College vote. A perfect example of how individual votes count. Unfortunately, the system of counting the votes is what was flawed.... "hanging chads", human error and such... further magnified in a close race. Who was to step in to make the final determination? You? Me? Perhaps a total re-do vote? No easy answer there... but that's what they went with... The Supreme Court. If you want a Popular Vote system... the overwhelming voice of the country is Conservative, so be careful what you wish for. Such a system would also encourage more voters, due to the reasoning they would feel their vote counted with more validity. Race has nothing to do with most people's objections to the current administration's policies, period. Obama is half white... race card argument is a desperate reach, to deflect any opposition or concern for issues... and any search for the truth. The search for the truth never ends... so, you can't just shut it down. Let's see what happens! Newer issues arise on a daily basis and must be attended to... can't just brush them under the rug! So, yes... move on with your daily lives and concerns, while the wheeels of justice spin!
  4. I'm sorry, but that's nonsense. Of course the electoral college votes determine the election results.... but our votes determine the E.C. votes... simple. Not appetizing to many, if not most, who'd prefer the popular vote method... but my vote still counts.
  5. Here we go again.... Save us... save us!!! C'mon "Dad", we're just trying to have fun... go back to your room!
  6. Umbertino... you get it. Real, true love and romance is not for the faint-of-heart... it is a precious "secret" that many have not, and may not, ever realize. Once you have experienced it's true value... you would trade all the wealth you have to keep, or attain it. Because, with that person in your heart... all can be gained. As I've always expressed... Love comes first. The other things follow... with more joy... and ease. Shhhhhhhh.... it's a secret Oh, and if someone exploits... or gets exploited... he/she is simply with the wrong person. You should be able to tell within the first 10 seconds.
  7. Ahhh... the age old "for love or money!" I'll take love... hands down! If I have to explain... you will never get it
  8. I'm failing to see the logic in your reasoning. The only thing about your theory I question is... why flood our economy with excessive dollars in the first place? To offset an RV windfall? No... it's just been plain politics to continue printing dollars. All this spending has gained us nothing. Any subsequent windfall would have a much better affect if it wasn't needed to offset bad spending. So, there would never be any true "vindication" to be had. Perhaps there would be a big sense of relief... but I would not reward the politics of it all with any sense of pride.
  9. Ahhh yes, Dave! And watched with an ever-vigilant eye
  10. I enjoy your passion for your confidence and convictions! However, others have the same in contrary viewpoints. For example, you say "there is no fear".... I say, "I'm alarmed at certain things and want them investigated". That's simply fair. I should smile and take your word for it... or someone elses? No, but I respectfully listen when presented objectively. Unfortunately, most political issues are quite convoluted and the answers are not as simple as we want them to be... so we press harder, and attempt to go the distance, while the opposition attempts to stifle it. That's part of democracy... and as I've stated before... it is also the diligent part of the process PRIOR to voting. And YES, there will always be "the next" controversy... and we turn our attention to it! Perhaps it is only those who want to stifle ANY search for the truth... that are truly fearful.
  11. Thanks Machine... I try my hardest to deliver consistent, reasonable, and objective messages throughout my posts.
  12. True... but the other side of that coin is just as valid, telling us that we must stay dilligent in our ability to voice concerns and bring issues to the forefront. Sometimes the opposition counts on our "inaction" to accomplish even the smallest bit of corruption. Simply voting to affect change... can sometimes be too late. So... speak up... create awareness... and then vote. We have nothing to fear in the process of discovering the truth...
  13. Smee, seriously, I follow many of your posts and find them very reasonable... but here, I must honestly disagree. Your viewpoint expounded here is in itself disrespectful. Frankly, I don't subscirbe to this "be respectful of the office (of the President) without criticizing the person himself"... that's nonsense... and impossible to differentiate the "connection". If a person feels a strong objection to the President... they MUST, in intellectual honesty... attach it to that person... period. Without that conscientious objection... it's purely pander. Many feel the President's policies are misguided, or worse. How do you state that otherwise? There is absolutely nothing disrepectful about voicing that dissent... especially when questions arise from the point of outrage. It is actually more of a duty to voice that outrage... and have the truth sought after to provide the final clarity. And, should the subject of a particular post "evolve" into other related issues... so be it... especially within the Off Topic Forum... it should not be stifled.... again the "free market of opinion and thought" should prevail to sort it all out. And, as far as the religious posts are concerned... I've voiced my opinion there as well... simply, in that... any faith-based opinion is part of the fabric of the poster, and cannot... and should not... be separated from their conscientious reasoning. It is not for me, you, or anyone else to attempt to separate them from their faith-based reasoning. What we see here constantly, is their defense of that... after being attacked for voicing their faith. Those that attack are not offering simple disagreement... they are objecting to faith-based posts. That is disrespectful and intollerant. With all of this, I agree... the common denominator is RESPECT... but it should come in the fashion of tollerance and diplomacy. One person's "poison" might be another person's "antidote". Respectful discussion will determine which is which... Munsch... Agreed... and I would never challenge a Mod, other than simply voicing my objective reasoning... generally. If you review any of my posts, I believe you will find extraordinary restaint in remaining diplomatic and objective... all in the cause of enlightenment. Please let me know if you find otherwise... Respectfully, Jax
  14. Zigs... I agee whole-heartedly... and have addressed the same issue before in previous posts: ...(that) is the unfortunate thing about it (that disrepectful posts carry more weight than "reasonable, respectful debate... and shut us down/censors the discussion"). I hope most on here notice that I, and some others, take thoughtful time, care and energy to post and respond to posts. And to have that minimized by an insult or disrepectful quip along a thread, punishes a good comprehensive post. Read more:
  15. Seems your presentation through arrogant conviction is meant to do nothing other than to reinforce your superiority complex. Might I suggest a more diplomatic approach... if you truly are attempting to help others. Please refine and define your motives... it would be a great help, as we are all adults here and really don't need to be talked down to. Thank you.
  16. RealisticLassie... you are absolutely correct, and I will add this, as I have stated before: With all due respect, in regard to the rants against religious postings... and personal "agendas", I might offer this... As much as I am not religious on a daily basis... many are, as it is part of their "fabric", their daily lives, their very nature in life. Religion to them is their guide, hence their faith.... as much as objective reasoning may be to me, or perhaps you. You cannot separate them from it... nor should you, as it delivers them comfort. That would be like a cruel unnecessary amputation. I'm not all for hearing it constantly, either.... but I will not take it away from them. It is not mine to take, nor deny them of it. Actually, I'm happy for them that they find the comfort they need in their faith. I learned this, stubbornly... that it's not about me... it's about their rights and their comfort in expression. Therefore, I don't mind it as much as I used to... my lesson learned in humility, empathy, diplomacy and peace. Read more:
  17. Rather be thinking about the thong.
  18. I agree with your objective reasoning. A person's color should not be part of the measure of one's worth... his policies and ideology are what speaks volumes. However, I really am surprised as to how often it is referred to when the "race card" is brought up.... that Obama is a black man. It simply is untrue, since he is half white. So, it just goes to show that the "race card" is only played as a deflection to the real issues plaguing his administration... and this of course, just convolutes all discussion and debate. Sad. Eliminate the "race card", and the discussion becomes much more clear...
  19. I had posted this before in a similar thread... and I stand by it's relevence... so, don't bash me for plagiarizing myself!!! Many people care about "process", not just the "result" in many things that we do, myself included. It can be simply a matter of personal pride... and perhaps even responsibility, or obligation... to want to communicate comprehensibly. Personally, I appreciate the extra effort people put forth in that regard... it certainly helps to minimize "misunderstandings", especially in the email and texting world, which I'm certain we have all experienced. So, imagine... one comprehensive, thought-out message that may take a minute longer to write... versus the next four messages it might take to clear up the confusion. Perhaps, slow down... embrace the process... get out a dictionary once in a while. For those that don't care... that's fine, too. We are all different in what we care about. Read more:
  20. The sadder thing is that you are in such angst as you attempt to be our surrogate "parent" trying to tell us what to do, how to feel and how to behave. It's really condescending and disrespectful. I'm certain most of us will be just fine without your wisdom continually intruding our decision making. If I need your help... please allow me to ask for it.
  21. Well Iwalker... hopefully now you are much more enlightened and armed with some more depth to question them a bit further! Don't accept the simple answers... they are professionals in a serious business... banking. Might I suggest re-reading my original response to your post.... and then Go Get 'Em... and report back to us what they say... I for one would be quite interested!!!! Thanx for your spirit and enthusiasm
  22. For a teller to say that, is taking quite a chance with her job! I would've grilled her for more information... or asked for the bank manager to confirm/clarify the teller's statement as a professional. If they could not do that with reasonable customer courtesy... her statement should be considered irresponsible and negligent. I mean, why accept these simple statements and answers?
  23. MinnRanger... It makes no sense to bother banks right now with exchanging... because they cannot predict the future. They don't know anything and will not know anything until the RV event.... that's why they look at you funny. You know more than they do! They are businesses and deal with products that they can market now... dinar is not one of them yet. Some have sold/exchanged dinars at the current rate... others have not... it's a corporate decision. It's simple... banks do not care about dinars until they want to... or have to. So, you just have to wait for the event... and then all the banks will be willing to help you... and won't be looking at you funny.
  24. It shouldn't... Sonny1 left no ambiguity in his statement that it will RV within 3 weeks... it was an absolute statement of 100% conviction... therefor it must occur.
  25. Hi Dman, seems we're close in our thinking... Please understand, I'm speaking more generally, and I believe you're speaking to the actions here at DV specifically, which I will not address in respect for Adam. But, I will simply say that we members will never know the true dynamics of what occured... and that was my general point about two sides to every issue. Sometimes the "behavior in leaving" is as legitimate as the "reasons for the difference" ... perhaps simply to provite clarity, truth... protection of honor, dignity and reputation... the list goes on. Perhaps there could be legal issues to defend. And again, it all depends on the dynamics of each individual situation. Now, concerning your doubt that former employees would come into a business to solicit customers (or other employees), it does occur. And depending on the type of business, it's easily done... via the openesss of retail... or via phone calls and emails... even outright strikes to create awareness. Ex-employees may even feel it's their duty to "warn" or to "inform" about bad practices... giving others the opportunity to find out for themselves in the free market. The implied expectation in a contract works two ways... a breach may occur from either side. Unfortunately, sometimes the best intentions and ethics gets tossed aside as the waters get muddied. So, as I stated... I will not address what happened at DV, as I don't pretend to know all the details and really don't care to know. It could be argued and debated til the cows come home... that's why I'm speaking generally. I hope yo understand. I'm just here to be civil and enjoy the process of our investment. Great discussion though... thanks!
