I like the part where it says... Of course, this MAY on;ly mean that they will raise the value to 1000 IQD to 1 USD, then replace the notes with 3 less zeros... who knows?... But, I still like it! Happy New Year EV1!!!

Well, the first example is just a rough approximation on the existing 1170 to 1 rate we see today. Now if you want to exrtrapolate on the second example... if 50 fils is the lowest denomination, then it COULD be compared to our penny, as taxes and such would be computed in some whole number variation of the 50 fil unit. And THAT my friends, is a $0.20 exchange rate. SO, who knows?.... sounds good to me though!

This is just talking about replacing worn and torn bills with new ones. Don't let the "category new" verbiage confuse you. It is not a new category. Just the existing category's new bills. IMO Shabibi is innocent as well. However, if he is to be reinstated; a large group of people are going to have to be found guilty and Shabibi will have to show that he has been attempting to eliminate those persons involved. Otherwise, he will be another captain that went down with the ship... :-(

Meh, just another day in Iraq... Personally, I think Shabibi is likely innocent of everything except being responsible for those underneath him. Sadly, that is usually enough to have anyone removed from duty (permanently). So, my guess is yes, there was corruption; it is Iraq after all, and EVERYONE is trying to crawl all over everyone else's backs to scratch out a better deal for themselves than the next guy can get. So much mistrust. So much hatred. So much intolerance. So much Greed. Such a strong culture of Islam there; isn't it?... NOT!... Plus, we can likely assume there was corruption because according to the reports, Shabibi stated he had previously brought it to Maliki's attention and was summarily ignored. Shabibi has not made a habit of lying in the past. Sadly, I feel it is much too dangerous for him to go back to clear his name without the aid and protection of the US embassy there in Baghdad... There is certainly going to be a lot of mudslinging and posturing over the next few weeks, that's for sure (again just another day in Iraq like so manu others). But, one thing is for sure; If you wake up tomorrow... you have been blessed! :-)

No one can compete with the US when it comes to just printing currency. In fact the US is an anomoly. The only reason we can print dollars and even somewhat maintain their value (which as everyone has seen is diminishing rapidly because of all the recent printing of Trillions); is due to the PetroDollar, and the USD being a world reserve currency. Because of these two things, there is always demand for the dollar and thus the value remains artificially high. Now sadly, many nations are going away from the petrodollar; and the USD as a world reserve currency, is being threatened by MOST of the G8. So, we're now on a precipice; and it doesnt feel like the pinnacle of our former glory or success either. :-/ Best wishes to ALL! We're in for an even bumpier ride...
