if i had to guess, it is because this country was founded on the idea of religious freedom (as well as many other ideals of course)... the only arguments that I personally have ever heard against same sex marriage (other than the gays spreading aids :/) is because of religious ideals.... so should your religious ideals be forced on other people (comes down to seperation of church and state). I grew up christian and it does not bother me if 2 dudes want to get hitched, or 2 ladies..... the main reason is people that pick up the dinar from iraq directly are making money off selling it outside of iraq since it is not an internationally recognized/traded currency. they are making money in the now while we buy it up to make money in the longterm.
