Interesting ideas. I'm not sure if "waiting until September 10" is to the Democrats advantage. They along with many incumbents, on both sides of the aisle, are going to be routed in the upcoming midterm elections. O may be trying to help this happen. It might help his reelection in 2012....Also, I'm sure there is a strong political angle to the whole RV/RI process, with the US and other countries who have forgiven Iraqi Debt, doing their best to influence Iraqi leaders. If "most American's have no idea of this investment", they are not going to see much benefit coming their way, just more spending by Washington, using the US citizens money. As for the new millionaires, new houses, boats, cars, luxury items, investment in new business / ventures will have some effect. It will take time. Frankly, it would be better for this to happen now, so O & his minions can take the credit. Waiting another month will delay their "victory lap".

Who cares if the government knows how many dinar you have? Until you decide to cash in for another currency, like the US Dollar what can the government do? Will they be waiting outside your front door, quizzing you on when you choose to "cash in"? You are not taxed until you decide to cash in your dinar. PAY YOUR TAXES! PAY YOUR TAXES! Let the government (whom ever they are) watch....what have you got to hide? PAY YOUR TAXES! PAY YOUR TAXES!

We keep "hoping" the Iraqi People will stand up and demand their "leaders" form a government, rebuild their infrastructure, etc. I doubt the average Iraqi has access to the amount of information we see in an hour over the course of a week. I suspect they know that: they live long power outages, very high unemployment, IED's, suicide murderers, etc. I'll bet they would be happy to go back to the previous regime....at least basic services were provided. Politicians are....I.....they'd.....just....Arrrrrrrgh! Thanks for this update.

OK. Get this done quickly. Iraq is at risk of losing support for the "elected government" because of inaction. That is very dangerous. Great post, thank you.

I don't understand why a deadline can't / won't be suggested / demanded / expected to form a government? Iraqi people voted, the elections were certified...now get a government put in place to serve the people.. Why is this so difficult? Everything happens BECAUSE of a deadline. The UN is weak. This entire situation is up to the leaders in Iraq. They have to stop bickering, start working together....hmmmm...sounds very similar to 1775. Each of the 13 colonies had their specific interests which had to be addressed. Leaders took charge and were able to bring unity, form a new government. A Republic. A representative government. We are watching history, we may hope for a quicker pace, but this is historic. Go Iraq! oh yeah, hurry up and RV!!!
