  1. Well, blow me down... I stand to correct myself. I am the rumor and you were correct. I can't imagine what I thought I was looking at...
  2. The vote may not have undone ch 7 in its entirety. It did, however, remove some certain resolutions that were holding them down. The UNSC can reimpose sanctions of some form or other if M and A start showing their A$$E$ and the GOI goes all freaky on us again. The resolutions that were released are major in that now they will begin to control their own destiny without the training wheels. Therefore, as far as we are concerned, it has been effectively diminished and trade with the world will begin to happen. Let us not forget the meeting of the UNSC for Iraq and Kuwait on the 17th. That along with what happens on the 18th in the parliament will tell the tale...
  3. Wino, no bashing... IMO your post is in line with reality and well thought out opinions are welcome even when they don't quite line up with the "factors" which drive this thing. When you see a rash of attention given to a post it is probably something way out there. That one has been beaten beyond recognition and a whole bunch of edgy speculators let the absurdity of the opinion get to them (myself included). Sometimes it is more than we can stand.
  4. I did not say branch managers... I said: "big players". My ex-wife is in banking and most of the branch managers I have met can't find there a$$ with a whole line of tellers. Before anyone else jumps on that I DID say "most". There are exceptions.
  5. Listen... If you think the big players in the banking world got there by being stupid, think again. I could bet my last dollar safely that they have been sitting on go for quite some time now. DUH! PS. I have NEVER seen anyone on this site go down in flames as fast as you just did. -29 and counting...
  6. Wow! Rhonda you have a very sharp tongue. That has to be painful for him. I agree with you, but unless the Mods have relocated this since your post, it IS in the rumors section.
  7. I agree with adritex. Hugs. Smiles. Kisses. Daggers... oops. Hugs. Smiles. Kisses. KU has already stated they will not stand in the way of Iraq's release from the sanctions. There will be some formalities, points of agreement and points of disagreement (with minimal emphasis), as well as, of course, the LIST of items for reconciliation. There will be no major waves made here. It's a foregone conclusion.
  8. I almost agree, but... Ron White says: "You can't fix stupid." Forrest Gump says: "Stupid is as stupid does." And I say: Those whose affinity is to saying things they do not think through will not likely change during any probationary period.
  9. Copied from DDT: Here are a couple of UN Webcast locations for tomorrow’s meetings: http://www.unmultimedia.org/tv/webcast/index.html http://www.albaghdadia.com/livehigh NOTE: "tomorrow's" was yesterday...
  10. PS. my suggestion that it is but isn't does not imply that it (currency circulating in country) would be of no effect. Also, KWF, I was not your negative (not that you care)... You have created a "fan" club, but I haven't joined it. I do not always like your posts, but I attempt to perceive the intent and not simply judge you because of the occassional appearance that you are a bloviating know it all. The differences in style and approach create a chasm many seem unable, or unwilling, to bridge, but I hear you and somewhat understand. SO, here's to a good ending for you and I hope the ride is almost over. It is too tiresome. Peace. Out.
  11. But not in the hands of the common-folk and the inference is that it is not really "circulating" per se. It is but it isn't. My personal opinion is that a LOP is not the direction they wish to go. You are correct in saying anything is possible, but I prefer to deal in probabilities and I just do not believe it is the most probable scenario. The bottom line: I never put more into something than I can afford to lose. Even if a LOP were to occur, my investment will end better than a total wash and I will be relatively happier (less a bushel of aggravation and a peck of stupidity...) because I will have made a little coin... Which is why I saw this as a reasonable venture.
  12. Jiminy Christmas this LOP thing is like a bad penney that just keeps turning up. For the sake of those who insist that it is possible, a LOP is possible, but not probable. Most of the physical currency (i.e. the 000's) in C-I-R-C-U-L-A-T-I-O-N is thought to be out of country (Iraq). The people of Iraq have very little cash in circulation there. They are pretty much destitute and poor beyond our ability to comprehend (unless of course you are one of our nation's wonderful military service members or otherwise have been there). The reason a LOP is NOT P-R-O-B-A-B-L-E is because Iraq has very low I-N-F-L-A-T-I-O-N. A lop is normally undertaken by nations with extremely high (hyper) inflation. Because of these two issues (1. currency in actual circulation 2. low inflation) Iraq can support and sustain a revaluation of its currency. The removal of the zero's will most likely occur in this way: e.g. 25k notes, etc. are cashed in and thus destroyed (removed from circulation) while a contemporaneous surge of new and smaller denominations is pushed onto the streets. There is another populist notion that the zero's of the current exchange rate may be removed. E.G. .000857 becomes .857 rounded to .86 representing an equivalent value of $1.17 USD. The bottom line is the continued propagation of the LOP theory is an argument people love to engage in because in the end when the answer is made available some will have been correct, and others will have been incorrect. The discussion of lopping is a huge timewaster because the students of either theory will never meet in the middle. It is a divisive tactic designed to discourage and divide. If you got into this investment on a whim, spent your lunch money to get in, and get your information in the wind you should probably turn your computer off and just wait to see what happens because the LOP theory will never be settled until Iraq's currency is tradeable and we make whatever we make.
  13. RI = Reinstatement to a former value. Many people tend to think and RI would mean $3.22 because that was the value Sadaam had assigned to the currency that was in use during his reign of terror. This is debatable because others will tell you that the value he assigned was not recognized because of the sanctions applied to Iraq after the gulf war, which is true by the way (in the simplest of terms) because there is a much deeper explaination I am sure. RV = ReVALUATION to a rate deemed appropriate to the circumstances of their economy. I'm sure someone else can explain it better, but this is the rudimentary information. Well, I see someone else posted the answer while I was pecking at the keyboard...
  14. Qman, I'm sorry bro... I was laughing so hard after reading it I didn't take time to see if it had already been posted. Mods please remove this duplicate posting. Thanks.
  15. Lately nerves have been frazzled, attitudes have been confrontational and most of us have taken life way too seriously. I sure have. Anyway, I really want to help out and it could be that we could use some bone healing, soul stirring laughter. A friend sent this text today. I laughed so hard I almost pee'd on myself. Enjoy. Remember: if you're too tight to see the humor and easily offended this is your last chance to move on. ONLY A MAN WOULD ATTEMPT THIS Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!! Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this: Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer. The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...?? WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home... I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another. The directions said that: a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, 'Don't do it stupid,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for the heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE... !!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a Tazer, one note of caution: There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling. Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! PS: My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
  16. It depends on which side you expect the zero's to be "LOPPED" from... If you think a nation that fully expects and desires to be taken seriously in the world is going to begin a long and mutually satisfying relationship by screwing the eyes out of all potential trading partners, you probably haven't done all your research and relied heavily on what others have said. If you think a "LOP" to the left value of the current exchange rate is possible then you are more reasonable in your expectations. You see, assuming the current value of IQD = .000857, moving the decimal three places to the right and rounding UP to .86 still makes many of us America's newest millionaires. That places the value of IQD equivalent to $1.17.
  17. The 15th of December 2010 works for me...
  18. If you have not read AM's Cash In Guide, now would be a good time to do so. As for the LOP theory, this has been dealt with many, many times. That is not the most likely scenario. They don't have to "LOP" because they can cover the deal.
  19. I think I understand your sentiment, however, the first of the year sounds terrible! Those nit-wit Washingtonians have failed to reach an agreement on taxes, which means any capital gains in 2011 could be taxed at a ridiculously high rate. I think NOT! Hey! UNSC, make 'em RV already...
  20. Now Willie, you know there are those among us that do not believe in a divine and supreme creator (I am not saying pleasantvalley Sunday is one of those) and they find it difficult to simply say things that reflect the fact that Jesus is Lord over all the universe and our blessings are from the one true and living God. Rather, they would prefer to say things in non-committed ways that do not "offend" others and don't understand that there are those among us who prefer truth over all else (me for one) and who choose giving the glory to our Father, which, is in heaven... But this forum is intended to say farewell and blessings to our friend Phoenix. Phoenix, I have not alway agreed with your posts, but they were always insightful and thought provoking and I appreciate that greatly. Many of your posts were borne out over time and proved correct and I regard your stick-to-it-ness as a highly desirable quality in anyone I get to know. You are known to me only through your posts, but I know that in another arena we could veiw one another favorably as acquaintances. Peace be upon you and may the blessings of the Lord Almighty be upon you and all that is yours. Thank you for your posts and the many hours you labored to bring wisdom to the forums. Pureau79
  21. Based on the history of big lottery winners, the vast majority have failed to retain wealth for their failure to understand its fluid nature. Wealth will flow like a great tide find its own level. Certainly, there are those who will not do well with this opportunity, but I prefer to hope your assessment is wrong and that the greater majority of our fellow "investors" will have gleaned the necessary info to retain and grow their wealth. It's my prayer anyway...
