bigwave
A rescue team has saved a 101-year-old man who was buried alive after last week's devastating earthquake in Nepal. The official death toll from the quake is more than 7,000, but Nepal's government said Sunday the toll is likely to climb "much higher," AFP reports. But in a bit of good news, 101-year-old Funchu Tamang wasn't one of the casualties. Rescuers found Tamang buried in the collapsed remains of his home in Nuwakot's Kimtang village on Saturday. He was taken to a local hospital, where his condition was pronounced stable. Tamang suffered only minor injuries, according to AFP. Officials also rescued three female survivors from rubble in the district of Sindhupalchowk on Sunday, but it is unclear how long they were buried. —Meghan DeMaria http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/funchu-tamang-sits-on-a-bed-in-a-hospital-in-nuwakot-news-photo/472050532?et=eChUPExtQB5C2IzjJGSJYA&referrer=http:%2F%2Ftheweek.com%2Fspeedreads%2F553070%2Frescuers-save-101yearold-man-from-wreckage-nepal Edited May 3, 2015 by bigwave

rendog
Having been to Nepal several times, and loving the culture and the people ... the beauty of both ... it is disheartening that the U.S. government has failed so miserably in stepping up with aid for these wonderful people. In the past, natural disasters have elicited the very best response ... and millions of dollars ... from our people and our country. And what better way for the Clinton "foundation" to make a positive statement on Hillarious's behalf, than to take a paltry $10M or $15M from their travel fund and spend the money for what it was ostensibly intended.
