  1. So one of the things I love most about our country is the fact that we all have the freedom to voice our own opinions, yet here on DV it is frowned upon and you get negged by those that are so narrow minded that they believe someone expressing an opinion other than their own is a "negative" thing. Information is an amazing thing, and I appreciate anyone who will bring forth that information to support their beliefs, even if it contrasts with my own. All I know is that during the Bush#2 era I was working at a small Christian school. We did not make much and we were working at the school because we loved what we were doing for the children and it also helped us to afford a Christian education for our children, tuition was free to full-time workers. During those years 8 out of the 10 women I worked with became the main bread winners in their families because their husbands lost their jobs. Suddenly these meager Christian school salaries were expected to clothe and feed their children and pay all of the bills. None of those men were able to find jobs during that Bush#2 era but they are working now. So lists are a great way to convey information about who has done what, but I tend to believe what I see in my daily life. Also I apologize to those who feel I'm being "negative" because you don't feel the same way I do, but unfortunately for you, pushing the little red buttons will not make those people who dare to have opposing opinions disappear
  2. WOW and everyone on here talks about the Guru's cool-aid, seems like the republicans have some pretty strong libations of their own
  3. Gee ya think maybe the record high number of American citizens on government programs may be in correlation with the record high number of American citizens out of work? Hate to tell ya people that trend started way before President Obama came into office, but let's blame the person who dared to take over a government and country almost completely destroyed by his predecessor, makes total sense to me
  4. Take a big gulp, sit back and close your eyes, and let that sweet sweet cool-aid slide down your throat. I love reading the Guru's $8-$11 speculations and then fantasizing for just a few seconds, then I come to DV for a dose of reality. The dose from DV doesn't go down nearly as smooth as the cool-aid but it's much safer
  5. PTSD SERVICE DOGS FOR VETERANS Sterling Service Dogs 3715 E. Fifteen Mile Road Sterling Heights, MI 48310 Toll free number - 586-977-9716 This is a non-profit organization that trains service dogs for children and adults. One of their main areas of expertise is training service dogs for VETERANS who suffer from PTSD.They have many different levels of sponsorship. This is a subject near and dear to my heart. My husband served in Afghanistan and Iraq and now suffers from PTSD. This not only affects him but the whole family so anything that may bring relief is is a blessing, which his interaction with our puppy does. There are many other non-profit orgs that train also, please take the time to look them up in your area. Also the Salvation Army may not be directly listed as a military charity but considering that one-third of the adult homeless population are veterans, it truly is.
  6. "I still think it's very possible that the rate will only be a dime...others that I talk to say it could be a heck of a lot higher, up to a dollar but NOBODY I talk to - well, at least in the group of people that actually have brains" This is the part of Adam's post that I think Mailman is referring to. I only remembered it because when I read it I thought, Oh that is gonna ruffle some feathers!
  7. Oh yes! Please let's go back under Republican control! The country was doing so well under Bush!!!!(eye roll inserted here). President Obama was handed a broken and battered country almost to the point of beyond repair. He has had an uphill battle against all those around him, those put in office to supposedly help the American people, when their main priority is to stick it to the Pres, detrimental to our country or not. It would be like having a car with no engine towed into your driveway and told you have to fix it to drive a dying person to the hospital. The new engine and all of the tools you need are locked away and those who have control of the key have no intention of giving it to you. When the person dies should everyone stand around pointing at you blaming you for the death? Or should everyone point the finger at those who are really to blame, the ones who hindered your ability to fix the car for their own selfish and superficial reasons? Maybe if our government worked harder toward joining together and doing what is best for the American people instead of fighting against each other to do what is best for their own political party, things could actually get better for everyone. Yes I know, rainbows with pots of gold and unicorns.
  8. Hahaha, gotta love Dr Mongo's take on this subject! Ahem we may want to take a closer look at Dr Mongo's credentials!!! My husband also got a good laugh over the doc's determinations. As far as an older woman finding a fulfilling relationship with a younger man due to having a lower maturity level, and of course I can only speak for myself, my mother has always stated that I was BORN mature. I have always been the one that those around me turn to when needing level headed advice, and the one that family members depend on when times are tough, I run several businesses quite successfully, so lack of maturity hasn't been an issue for me since I was a teenager. Then the real kicker! The Alpha Female looking for a younger man she can control hahahaha, even had my much younger SGT Infantry Airborne Combat Veteran husband, chuckling. Thanks Dr Mongo for the good laugh, I needed that!
  9. A subject near and dear to my heart. I am married to a man 20 yrs younger. We have been together for almost 5 yrs and have been married for a year and a half. I was married for 15 yrs to a man my age and have 2 beautiful girls from that marriage. I look young for my age and he looks older than his young years, so we meet in the middle The strangest thing that I have found is that most of the negative comments come from males, not his age asking him what he is thinking but my age asking me what I am thinking! I just laugh and ask "Have you seen my husband? He is HOT!" This response for some reason does not help. Anyway I am sick of the double standards, most people do not bat an eyelash at older men with younger women and yet an older woman with a younger man is either labeled desperate or expected to be wealthy, I am neither. The one thing I am, is extremely HAPPY!!! So guess what society I don't care what any of you think, doesn't bother me a bit, because my life has been enriched beyond belief RRRAAAAAWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
  10. Hi Mark, I have an interesting situation. My husband was stationed in Iraq in 2007. He was training Iraqi soldiers and had very close relationships with Iraqi soldiers and interpreters. While there he traded USD for Iraqi currency, not only because he was at Iraqi bases most of the time and used the IQD to purchase items while there but that he also believed he would be deployed again and wanted to be prepared. After his deployment, he brought what was left over home thinking it would come in handy when he went back over, but instead was deployed to Afghanistan. When he was discharged last year and came home for good we were unpacking his personal items and found the IQD stored away. When we researched what we should do with it we found these sites so hung on to it. So even though it was not purchased as an investment at first we have hung onto it because of its potential. Do we consider this an investment because that is what it eventually(hopefully) will become or consider it a personal transaction because that was the original intent? We don't mind paying what we owe in taxes but don't want to pay more than what we should either.
  11. I agree with u won-uh-bee! Those of us that are level headed and don't take someone's words as fact can have fun with the gurus. It's those of us that take what they say as fact and do not look elsewhere for information that r sometimes hurt by it. I have to admit I go to that site and enjoy the excited feeling I get when I read the posts.........then I come here for a dose of reality
  12. 9-23-2011 Guru Eagle Has Landed Talabani said he wanted the average annual income per capita to be $8,000 ... according to UNICEF the average annual income is currently $2,200 ... so the RV rate is $3.63...take the projected annual income of $8,000 and divide by the current annual income of $2,200 and you get $3.636. the current annual income per capita is listed by UNICEF as well as other places. now we wait for Shabibi to speak at the World Bank tomorrow. Does anyone else have any info that can back this up? Because of where it was posted I have doubts about the validity of the statements.
  13. I have to admit, after reading the content of a post, the level of grammar and spelling does make an impact on how much credence I give to the person posting it.
  14. This was posted on Dinar Gurus also. On there it was posted directly from Delta not Frank. I researched trying to find any proof leading to Shabs holding any type of a press conference or any address to the people and found nothing. Hopefully someone else can.
