Sirius
Two men fighting for lives after bloody 49ers-Raiders game violence By Matthias Gafni Two men are fighting for their lives after one was savagely beaten in a Candlestick Park bathroom during the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders exhibition game and another was shot several times after the game in a double shooting in the parking lot. A 24-year-old man, who was wearing an "(Expletive) the Niners" T-shirt, was shot two to four times in the stomach before driving his truck to Gate A and stumbling to security, said San Francisco police Sgt. Frank Harrell. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition. Another man in his 20s was shot near Lot V about 20 minutes earlier and had superficial face injuries, Harrell said, and was taken to the same hospital. The first shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m., about 15 minutes after the game ended. "We are treating it as separate shootings, but we believe they are related," Harrell said. Police pulled a man off a party bus before it left the parking lot and are calling him a suspect. He was wearing an Oakland Raiders jersey, Harrell said. All three men attended the game, he said. In the fourth quarter, around 7:15 p.m., a 26-year-old San Rafael man was assaulted and knocked unconscious in an upper level men's restroom, said Sgt. Michael Andraychak. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, he said. The suspect in the beating is a male Samoan/Pacific Islander, 25 to 30 years old, 6-feet-3 to 6-feet-5, and 225 to 260 pounds. He had a goatee and long curly hair tied in a pony tail and was last seen wearing a T-shirt and bluejeans, Andraychak said. Police did not say whether the beating and shooting were related. Anyone witnessing either crime can call the San Francisco police tip line at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and include "SFPD" in the beginning of the text. The 49ers released a statement following the game, but only touched on the shooting. "The San Francisco Police Department is investigating a shooting incident following Saturday's NFL game between the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders outside Candlestick Park. No other information regarding the incident is available from the 49ers at this time." The 49ers beat the Raiders 17-3 Saturday night in the bitter rivalry. Mommyof3boys
We have taken our boys to different events including football. Honestly, it is sad to see how many people lack manners or just general courtesy. Why do people have to act out so violently. Not a place I think I want to put my boys

The long disputed "Iron Mountain Talks" discussed the use of diversions to placate the public, and organized sports seemed to gather favor as a working medium to distract the public. As soon as the "social justice" gravy train is impacted by budget cuts, this will definately spill over into the streets. Put some silver away, as well as supplies. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst..
Sirius
Its kind of like hockey riots in canda only no looting an destruction Kind of true I guess, I'm not claiming it is a problem only in the US, just sports in general. But the hockey riots were after a major championship, the Stanley Cup, this was a Pre-season game! I never understood why people who may make 10 to $20.00 an hour would go pay 200 to 400 bucks to watch guys play with a ball or whatever, who each probably make more in ONE game than most people do in a year. It will never make sense to me. I haven't been to a hockey game since Bobby Orr was playing, but we could afford it then..now it's about 500 bucks for 2 tickets unless you want the nose bleed seats and they are still over 100. To each his own...priorities. Edited August 22, 2011 by Sirius 1
krome2ez
I agree with you Sirius. Mob rules bring out the worst in people. They feed on the frenzy and then try to justify it. Same thing with the riots in Britain.
RodandStaff
Prior to this the worst violence that I have heard of at a sporting event is European Soccer match's. I have heard of hundreds of people being crushed against fences and such... with several fatalities. Sad, but when the fit hits the shan who will be buying those overpriced tickets to watch a bunch of ego maniacs "play"?
tcat1
I agree with you Sirius. Mob rules bring out the worst in people. They feed on the frenzy and then try to justify it. Same thing with the riots in Britain. We know that alcohol lowers inhibitions to react violently. You will cut out 90% of this barbaric activity by cutting out alcohol sales. Sure you cut the elites reward at the concession stands but they must be faulted with feeding the frenzy.

You will cut out 90% of this barbaric activity by cutting out alcohol sales. Sure you cut the elites reward at the concession stands but they must be faulted with feeding the frenzy. But then you punish the ones who act civil. I don't think removing alcohol is the answer. Strict punishment for those at fault should be the answer. At least for the fight in the stands, there is video evidence.
