Iraqi parliament to raise its next Thursday

Baghdad, January 11 (Rn) - According to a member of the National Alliance, on Tuesday, that the President of Iraqi Council of Representatives Osama Najafi decided to raise the Council meeting to Thursday next after the postponement of the vote on the parliamentary committees and the first reading of the draft federal budget for 2011.

Said Kamal Saadi Kurdistan News Agency (Rn), "The House of Representatives Speaker Osama Najafi decided to raise the Council meeting to next Thursday on condition everyone to vote on the committees and the rules of procedure at the next meeting."

Saadi explained that "Nujaifi informed all members that Thursday's session will be devoted to the vote on the parliamentary committees, and rules of procedure of the Council, and the first reading of the draft federal budget for 2011."

The Attorney-Chuan Mohamed Taha told (Rn) earlier in the day that the House of Representatives decided in today's session at the request of the Chair to postpone the first reading of the draft general budget for 2011, due to technical shortcomings in the budget of the project such as printing and other matters.

The Iraqi Council of Representatives held this morning its 21 in the presence of 270 deputies, where the agenda were distributed to replace the paragraph of Representatives members, and discuss the cement factories in the province of Anbar, and the ancient city of Babylon

My lord...how many times are these people going to read this thing? I know the old joke is, well that will take an act of congress...but it should be changed to, well that will take an act of the Iraqi parliament!

What I don't understand, based off of the way it is worded, is it being read this Thursday or next Thursday? It almost seems like they are trying to prolong the readings of the budget to be able to read the third one at the summit......

it is just the way they use the term next, they use it literally, so the next Thursday to them means this Thursday to us. It will be this upcoming Thursday

Come on now.. You went straight from a Monday to a Monday, nobody has had the guts to skip Friday. It always goes this way Monday than Friday than Monday than Friday and so on and so on and so on.
