Alaq: Many alternatives for NC to elect nominee for PM post [Print] [save]

25/09/2010 13:56:00

Baghdad (NINA) –Member of the State of Law’s Coalition Ali al-Alaq assured that “Many alternatives and suggestions are ahead of the National Coalition to elect its nominee for the PM post if the two candidates Maliki and Abdul Mahdi did not reach a settlement.”

He stated to the National Iraqi News Agency “Mutual discussions and meetings are ongoing among two sides of the NC represented by the SLC and the Iraqi National Alliance in an attempt to bring views together which might result in an agreement on Saturday or Sunday, or else the NC will resort to another mechanism.”

“Many alternatives are available, but the voting procedure is most favorable,” he added, noting that “Some parts of the NC believe that voting rate should be 50+1 %, while others believe it should be 65% which is rejected by some sides who like to reduce it.”

The NC agreed to grant a period of five days that will end by next Thursday for Maliki and Abdul Mahdi to reach an accord on who to be next PM. /End/
