Shafaq News / Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Saad Al-Tobi, confirmed on Monday that the committee voted on the federal budget schedules for the year 2024 without making changes to them, indicating that two trillion dinars had been allocated for transfer between the exchange doors.

Al-Toubi told Shafaq News Agency, “The Parliamentary Finance Committee added a paragraph in its report that gives the government the right to transfer two trillion dinars to the governorates that are not organized into a region, according to what the government sees fit, to increase the financial allocation to the governorates.”

He pointed out that, "An hour from now, the House of Representatives will hold its special session to vote on the budget schedules."

Contrary to what Al-Toubi stated, the representative of the State of Law coalition, Thaer Al-Jubouri, said yesterday, Sunday, to Shafaq News Agency, “There are many parliamentary observations on the budget schedules sent by the government to Parliament, and the Parliamentary Finance Committee took those observations and is working to make amendments.” Substantial on the schedules in agreement with the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Government.”

He stressed that "the budget will be passed after making fundamental amendments and fairness to all governorates, especially the center and south, with the projects and attention they need, and there will be no change in the share of the Kurdistan Region sent in the schedules by the government."

Meanwhile, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mustafa Al-Karaawi, indicated in a statement to Shafaq News Agency, also yesterday, Sunday, that the Finance Committee “is waiting for the political blocs to agree on the final report on the budget tables, after which it will go to a vote.”

He stated that "there are many proposals presented by the political blocs and members of the House of Representatives on the budget tables, including making financial transfers, changing disbursements and expenditures, and reducing the percentage of the financial deficit in the budget."

The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed last Thursday, May 30, that it or the House of Representatives have no intention of returning the budget schedules for the year 2024 to the federal government.

The 2024 budget, according to what Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced, amounts to 211 trillion dinars, and employee salaries for the year 2024 amount to 62 trillion dinars, while the 2023 budget amounted to 199 trillion dinars and employee salaries amounted to 59 trillion dinars.

According to Al-Sudani, the revenues of the 2024 budget are estimated at “144 trillion and 336 billion dinars, while expenditures amount to 210 trillion and 936 billion dinars, while the deficit is 63 trillion and 599 billion dinars.”
